Cool. There is a shot of a 1971 proto-type I had never seen before. It shows the 1/4 panel 'haunch' line and rear kick-up a little more pronounced than on production versions. It actually looks a lot closer to the 69-70 fastback appearance. Could have been interesting...

Thanks!There were some cool snaps there I saved for my screensaver.  There's a picture in a book I have about the River Rouge plant showing an R code '70 Mach 1 coming down the assembly line I always wanted for a poster for my shop. I wish I knew where I could get one. ------------------
