I have a friend that is CRAZY about Mustangs and models. I'd like to get her a 1:18 kit of an '05. Preferably a GT. But everything I see in the 1:18 is pre-made. I need a model kit, as in take it out of the boxes and put the pieces together. Is there a place on the web that sells them in the 1:18 scale? Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me. I'd like to have this for her before X-mas.

Down in that region of the US is a chain called HobbyLobby. Maybe they would have something?

Thanks. I went to Hobby Lobby, but they didn't have what I was looking for. I ended up getting her a 1/12 scale 3-1 69 Camaro.Everywhere on the web I see 1/18 scales that aren't kits, they're pre-made. Do they not make true MODEL kits in the 1/18 scale any more?

Not for about 30 years. AMT had a few 1/16 kits. Revell had a 1/12 '65 GT-350. There are some 1/8 kits out. Revell/Monogram just re-issued an updated '32 Ford roadster and '23 T. Worth every penny at $90. Even the 1/25 kits are getting scarce. All the companies are pre-painting the bodies or making die cast cars and kits.Check Hobby Heaven on the web. 30 Years??? I remember doing 1/18's in high school in the late 80's. (I had a killer Testarossa that I painted hot pink) They were about $30+ then, so I can imaging that they would have jumped in price some, but dissapeared altogether?? Why? Are people just not into the size. I see 1/24's everywhere, but that's jut too small to be interesting to me.When I see pictures of people's "collections" of 1/18 pre-mades, I'm not impressed because it didn't take anything to do them. Buy, take out of box, put on shelf.

I've still got one of the old AMT 1:16 scale 64-1/2 Mustang kits laying around unmade. Probably never will make it.
