I work for a major hobby distributor and was grumbling about how no one has made a 67-68 Cougar kit. Then one of our sales rep gave me some info about brand new kits under development. It's supposed to be hush-hush, but here's what I can tell. We exclusively distribute an overseas line that is creating new tooling for certain cars. The first one was a 61 Bonneville hardtop & convert. Why that car, I don't know, but the detail is very nice. The next kit soon to come out is a 63 Nova. Nice detail! Under development is the chassis for 64-65 Falcon/Comet kits. The kits are in a very early stage of development, so bodystyles are still being tossed around. No standard coupe, but he mentioned sedan delivery and Ranchero bodystyles. Maybe a convert? That would be cool! Also he said a 68 Cougar would also be made off the same chassis. I know the real cars chassis was not the same as the 64-65, but when was the last time you saw a 68 Cougar kit? The sales rep works directly with the manufacturer on details (and booting them in the rear for dragging thier feet at times) so engine/driveline combos are not set. OK folks, give me some input on what you think. Think rims, engines/trans and such. I'll pass it on. One more thing. The process from idea to kit is really cool! The first prototype is a resin kit for our rep to assemble and test how the parts fit and if details & proportions are correct. He gives them input and works with them to make it right. That's it for now, but tell me what combos you like(S code Cougar?). Help me help you. Thanks, and I'll keep you posted.

I'd say any '68 as it may alow me to finish my kit bash '68 Mustang coupe. Or better yet, talk them into doing a '68 Mustang Coupe kit as there are and never have been any. It was the most made '68. Of course after the plane jane 289/302, you could add to it and make the GT, GT/CS, and a host of other engine and option combos. Sorry folks, was in hospital and was away from computer.I have no say as to what kits will be made, but what the manufacturer is doing is not mainstream type cars. I think a coupe would be great, but Mustangs have been done. What I could use is some option ideas for the kits in progress. From what I know the Cougar will be a big block. Comet/Falcon probably a HiPo. Please give me some input. As for a Starliner, ERTL has a 60 or 61 kit. Thanks!

For the '65 Comet kit - I woould like to see a Cyclone version with bucket seats. Also would like to have the factory twin-scoop fiberglass hood option, too. There are actually two different hoods, one with a low-profile scoop like a '66, and then the "A/FX" drag-racing style with the high scoops that come all the way forward. Both hoods (or maybe all three) in the kit would be nice.I've bought two resin '65 Comets already, but have not been able to make that scooped hood (the '66 hood contours are more rounded). An engine compartment insert of some kind, with and without "shock towers" would make a flexible kit that could be used to build a stocker, or a B/FX (small-block) of AF/X (big-block) version.

With the 1967/68 Cougar kit I would like to see a three in one type kit. Perhapsa standard coupe, a GTE and a Trans Am version. May be a Dan Gurney Special option as well.------------------ 67 COUGAR 289 bored 30 over Edelbrock heads & intake, 600 Holley, Comp cam, MSD, headers, bald tires.

It's available through Hobby Heaven among other sources. BUT it was/is a Craftsman Series kit which means a simple chassis and no opening hood. Tracy
