My wonderful wife really spoiled me for Christmas with great car gifts like an AutoArt 1/18 scale '68 Bullitt (utterly fantastic detailing) and a few other items, but one of the ones I was real excited about was the new Testor's Platinum series '71 Mach 1 metal bodied 1/25 scale model. The paint on the body is fantastic (though gloss on the hood) and I believe it comes in three colors. However my biggest gripe was the fact (and how could they have done this??) was to put a Boss 429 engine in the kit!! It kind of detracts from the kit, so now I'll just have to get a 351C or 429 from another kit and use this engine for another car. I agree Duane. I think it has to do with selling performance. You know, bigger is better. Hence the Boss 429 vice a 429 or Boss 351. I put mine together today, and I must say it came out very nice, despite all the inaccuracies. It has a Boss 429,has a cowl vent in the ram air hood, front wheelhouses like a 72-76 Torino, the steering linkage is in front of the wheels,no radiator hose or fan shroud. That's what I've found so far. I have 2 of them, this one has a black interior, while I will make the next one a ginger interior. Duane, you say there are 3 colors? I only have seen the yellow ones. I've seen a red one on ebay (maybe a previous release??), and they were supposed to release a white one. However, I went to the Testors website and they only list the yellow one. So who knows for sure??------------------ Duane 71 Fastback (his) under resto (351C-4V C6 auto) 73 Mach 1 (hers) (351CJ 4 speed) 66 289/2V coupe (daughter Ashley's) 89 LX 2.3 convertible (daughter Amanda's) M & M Member #730
