Sorry I missed your post. The cars, which are made by several mfgs. vary from $25-$100 each. There are many mfgs. of track as well. The home set type for a basic oval starts at about $115. There are some online retailers that have a large NASCAR set for $99 (it retails for $189). All sets come with 2 cars. The bigger ones come with 4 cars.

So it's just like the Mustang hobby. You can get by with as little or as much as you can stand. If you have never raced 1/32 scale slots I would give it a try!

I did once,a long time ago. It was down at the amusement park at the beach. It was fun,even though the cars ran like crap. I just don't have the room to set something that size up.
