I have a Testors Mark IIin blue. I haven't seen them out for a while. I think it's 10 or 12 years old. Not too many retailers sell kits anymore. Now mostly it's Walmart,or online. There are some in 1/43 and 1/18. Most of them are Italian made {ie. expensive}There were some out at TRU about 6-7 years ago,and i kick myself there too.

Phew! I don't have an AMEX card. YIKES! If I spend $445 for a model, I'd be staying at a hotel. ------------------

Thanks, Tracy! I never thought of watching ebay. I'll keep an eye on there for one. I'd like to get one like Mike's Testor MkII. That one looks pretty realistic. ------------------

The Testors kits were originally released by IMC. The one in the photo above is the IMC GT40 MK I. IMC also released the Gulf GT40. Testors didn't re-release that version. A friend of mine one sold on eBay last week for $36!http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1684977136 Revell of Germany also sold in this country a GT40 and GT40 MKII. These had one piece bodies. Union from Japan recently sold the Testors kits in this country. Tracy

Revell and Fujimi each made a beautiful kit of the GT-40 in 1/25 scale. Both kits are actually the same one, produced by Fujimi and marketed by both companys. Both companys offered the kit in the livery of the three 1966 Ford team cars.Although these kits do not have an engine, and have little chassi detail, they are nicely detailed kits of very high quality, and are easily built. The Revell version of the dark blue #2 car has part #7130,and the Fujimi version of the gold #5 car appears to have part #12127-2500.A decent model shop may possibly be able to order the Fujimi for you. They also show up on e-bay from time to time. If you want a 1/18 die cast, Eagle makes them: http://www.eaglecollectibles.com/18-scale/fg-01.htmlYou can buy them here: http://www.towerhobbies.com/
If you want a REALLY cool model of a GT40, then get a 1/10 gas radio control touring car, and pop on a GT40 body...... Does 50 MPH out of the box sound cool? http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p.pgm?Q=1&I=LXJE05**&P=7 hehe, another expensive hobby......

If you browse around at that Holman-Moody site you will find that you can buy a full sized working model of the original GT-40. You probably will have to skip lunches for a week or two in order to afford it though.

I just went back and looked around again. The new GT-40 goes for about $600,000.00 and they didn't list a price for the old originals. I may have to skip supper too. But dreaming is free so I guess I'll just continue with that.
