Ford finally made it official:

http://media.ford.com/newsroom/release_display.cfm?release=23327

Should be quite a ride. The "internet buzz" has been saying that it's scheduled for first car off-line on 6/6. No word yet on what the MSRP will be, but I have a feeling it will be higher than the initial $39k they talked about previously. They will probably use the increased HP number as an excuse to raise the price. Doesn't matter much to me at this point, as anything over $50 is out of my price range. It'll be interesting to see what they'll actually do (both 1/4 and road course) once they hit the streets.

5W50? That's kinda strange, ain't it?

I remember going to Carlisle last year and interviewing one of the members of the design team. He said they were going to do everything in their power to hit 500hp, and still come to market under $40k. Management had given them a $40k pricetag limit. They held true to the first, let's hope they hit the 2nd as well.

500 horses at only 8.4:1 compression...
Imagine what that baby would do if you up it to 9 or 10!!!
I've already started thinking "How can I get my 5.4 out of my F150 & into my Mustang"...

9 PSI--- wonder how much more it can take with a pulley change and still keep stock internals and such.

With 9 psi of boost, if it had 10-1 compression it would probably spit pieces of the pistons out the exhuast the first time it got a tank full of ~bad~ gasoline.

If its anything like the 4.6 cobra motor, with its high end rods and pistons it can take a bunch more than that.

I have a friend with a 4.6 cobra, making more than 500 ponies at the crank (473 RWHP) and its basically stock, with only exhaust, chip and a pulley to make about 13PSI

So in theory (if it shared the same quality of internal components) the 5.4 should be safe to boost to the 13PSI mark at least, and make closer to 600hp! Theres no replacement for displacement!
