The guy that I got the info on the 07 Shelby from is a) a Mustang guy and b) married to someone on the "inside" at Ford. He is determined to sell his 03 and get one. He claims that they will be available in June 06.

I couldn't resist, I put a deposit on one today. Don't know if I'll ever actually pony up and buy one, but it's totally refundable and gets me in line.

A few things that my dealer told me. Delivery is expected in September 06 or it could be bumped to September 07. Price up here will be somewhere between $50 and $70 Canadian ($42 - $58 USD). No options, no convertible and no choice of color. However, you can pass on a car if it's not the color you want and consider the next one they get in.

Who else is on a list? My friend that I referred to above is 13th at his dealer with no deposit required.

Paid....One deposit.......for a 2007 Mustang Shelby GT 500.

I took that step today. Only 3 SVT dealers in the northern half of my state. A racing buddy of mine is partially sponsored by them with his drag car. So, he had somewhat of an inside track.

In dealing with the dealership GM we found out he will be allocated 5 of the cars. My buddy and I put our deposits down on #3 and #4. The GM reported that non SVT dealers have been trying to get some of theirs as well as interest by out of state customers. But....hopefully in this case...money talks. First come, first serve.

We agreed it would be sticker price with NO extra dealer markup, no doc fees. etc.

Sure, it's a lot of money, but I figured I might as well get something nice while I can enjoy. I just turned 40 and I need something to get away from those 70 hour work weeks I deal with.

I bailed out on my deposit months ago when I decided to restore the 68. A friend is on the list in the states, but is being asked for $20 more than list.

Anyway, he just sent me this: http://media.ford.com/products/press_article_display.cfm?article_id=23327&vehicle_id=1374&make_id=92&CFID=20554423&CFTOKEN=5558b37a2f4b74c2-8FC3F515-1185-6A02-D87D988FDDE59C5B&jses sionid=8a30fbec42d28$07$C4G

Sorry Kinger ....I was commenting on Dave_C 's post, I find it hard to believe there are any dealers out there that will sell this car with no mark-up.
