Picked these up from an Autoweek Online article: Looks pretty good! Not sure about the tail section, but the front and the sides look very 67-68 Mustangish to me. Nice!! Hopefully more pics of the print will surface eventually. First impression is YUK!The front looks like it might not be too bad, but the rear looks TERRIBLE. It reminds me of those horrid Australian Capris. Maybe it's just a rumor. The VERY thing that came to my mind, even before I read your post, Steve. I visualized it, even before I saw that Capri back end photo that you posted. I hope it is just a 'red' herring to mislead people and that the production car is a lot different than that. Seems too slab-sided, angular, and European-derived, too. I'm not saying it should be round like a Beetle, but it doesn't look right the way it is in those photos, either. As is, it looks like another 'design-by-committee'. Seems more like odd pieces stuck together, rather than a flowing, graceful, integrated design, IMO.

The windsheild looks too angled back, doesn't it?I sure hope they don't do to the Mustang what GM did to the Camaro/Firebird; ugly it out of existance! Maybe I'm being too harsh on my first impression. To each his own... but I give it a big thumbs down! The back is FUGLY! To me, it looks more like a Mazda Miata than a mustang. Oh well, I guess we haven't got a good front view yet... If they got rid of those excessively large wheels and that back end, she'd be good. The article said that the 4.6 is gonna replaced with a 5.0 And the Cobra with 400+hp Both very very good things in my mind.[This message has been edited by Boss302 (edited 12-03-2002).]

looks like they were going for the Shelby T-bird tail lights look. I would love to see it in Fastback/coupe (or whatever they call it these days.) form. Notice the Gas cap back in its original spot?. Honestly I think it may just be a concept. The body seems far too streamlined for cost/ease of production; the lack of visible seams between the bumpers and fenders, and the Low roofline, and the exhaust exits. overall, I like it. I used to draw pictures of cars almost identical to it as a kid.

Nah....the early Stangs have a lot of character and an absolutely timeless quality to them. This red car looks too much like a Mercedes....or something.

Bear in mind that it won't be the classic 5-oh motor last used in the 95 ponycar. It's an oversized 4.6. I'm falling into the "yuck!" camp. I didn't like the blue artist's rendition car that circulated a while back and this looks even worse to my eye. You know one of the classic traits of the Mustang is the tri-bar taillights. This car seems to be missing them. It looks like there are 3 tail lights per side, but it's difficult to make out what shape they are. All 6 MAY be the same size....but the angle, and distance from the camera, etc, makes it seem like they get progessively taller, from the outermost to innermost.

Who knows, maybe when I see it in person I'll love it. I'd like it more if it wasn't a convertible, that's probably a large factor in my initial reaction.------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 Be sure to remember our sponsors, Mustangs Plus, NPD, and Osborn Reproductions.

I'm on the fence. I don't think those camera angles are great either. It does look like a two seater; that would suck. That "roll bar" would have to go, and the windshield does like a bit severe in angle. Tail lights are awful, but I do like the front end and also the wheelbase. Profile on the tires is an auto show only feature, you know that. Little extreme for my fillings. There is an amazing similarity to the Capri in the tail lights, like Steve mentioned. I thought that too. Yuk!I think once it comes out it'll probably look quite a bit better. Here's hoping....

OH MY! That looks nice Steve (the one you just posted). But it looks like the only thing that's changed on it is the front, rear, and roof. The sides still look too much like the current models. If that could be the final production version, I'd buy it. But right now, I'm not trusting any pictures or sketches. That '67-'68 retro sail panel would be VERY cool! The car definitely looks better with a roof. Better....except for that tail light panel. Allante....Yeah, Stallone drove one in Tango & Cash. First one that comes to mind. Buick Reatta is another one.

I missed this one here. The pics done from Sean are based - as reported - as being based on a CAD drawing out of Ford. See www.bradbarnett.com for the original CAD-Drawing. Let's just hope that Seans designs become true. There is still a survey going on from Ford as I read on other forums (as you might already know) for final details of the production car.
