I am wondering what goes in the open area located under the dash lip on the passenger side and just to the left of the running pony on the glove box. Was it a map light, or some other option that my 76 didn't get?

You have to put your head down to see the hole as it is not visible looking straight on.

There is supposed to be a light in there - and it was an option that most people didn't get, judging from the number of people that have asked about it.
