I have '78 that came with a 302 and c-4. I just rebuilt the motor and uped the horsepower a little to around 350. I'm still running the stock converter and it's developed a knock when it heats up. Also it bogs of the line due to lack of stall. Anway i'm thinking of changing the bellhousing from the 141 tooth to a 157 tooth. I'm doing this for the lack of options that the 141 has. A couple of guys told me that it would fit with some persuation. My question is, what depth bellhousing should i look for so i can keep my driveshaft and trans crossmember the same. I only ask the because i looked at Summit's web site for one and they listed 3 different depths.

Why not have your factory converter rebuilt to the stall you want?

Exhaust will become an issue. I remember it being pretty tight down there and the wider bell will just make it worse.

The reason for not having my converter built is that i want to run a SFI approved flexplate. Just for safety reasons. I've heard too many bad storys when they come appart and to my knowledge, though it may be little, no one makes one in a 141 tooth. Thats what i was after cobra. Thanks for the info. Also, i know this subject has been touched on many times, but could someone help me choose a converter? My car is aprox. 2400lbs with me in it 3.80 gears stock suspension with stock 8"rear 302 boared .030 over balanced with flat top Probe forged pistons aprox. 10.5 comp. performer RPM intake w/ 600 holley dbl. pump, headers, MSD distributor and 6al ignition, Lunati 292 adv 230 @ 0.050 512/512 108cl. I'm planning on rebuilding the c-4 with new servo, hardend input shaft, reverse manual valve body. Also my rear tires are Hossier 26.0 by 9.0 slicks. Any help would be appreciated. As it already has been.

Try these guys, you will get EXACTLY the convertor you need! btw, they even do a Mustang II specific convertor, hope this helps. Cheers, Dave.
