I got a oil pan at drive wire.It said it was for 75-78 mustang II. I also look at the oil pans for 70 -73 mustangs it listed the same oil pan. it is for a 302 v8.I heard they are not the same on 70-73 as 75-78.?

The difference is to give clearence for the starter. Because of the unique MII small bellhousing/flexplate, the starter moves in closer to the engine/oil pan.A normal pan will fit but you may have to dent it in for starter clearence. On the 351W swap, you beat it senseless.

Not only starter clearance but also the power R&P unit. A standard front sump pan will work if you switch to manual steering (or clearance the pan around the power unit). And go with a mini-starter.------------------ 78 Cobra II 99 Expedition 4x4 02 Mustang GT
