Alright, has anyone out there done any research on headers for the 302. I've found the headmens and heard of one made by hooker. Is there anyone out there running a custom set or a set of block huggers.

The older and harder to find (no longer in production) Blackjack/Dynomax fit the best. The hookers fit well but have not bolt-up flang to bolt the rest of the exhaust up, and they are pricey. I modified a set of Heddmans to fit the 351 better. Those

Has anyone tried differant factory manifolds that breathe better than the original ones. For example hipo 289 manifolds. Don't want to just start buys manifolds and factory headers just to try. I'm sure someone out there has tried some of these combos.

I thought about that as well when I was putting things together. Most if not all of the Factory right hand manifolds are of the "log" design. You can find all kinds of "decent" left hand units (69-70 mustang, early 70's 351 Torino to name a few), but better flowing right sides are the harder to find.

I'd go for the Heddman units and have the #1 pipe remade so it doesn't get smashed as easy. I put a couple or 45's in place of the 90 at the bottom, it makes it a litle harder to mess it up. Hooker makes a set that aren't fender-well for the 302. the only ones that need the inner fenders cut are the 351 swap headders.
