Hello, I am having an electrical problem with my 78 Mustang II, 302 V8. Some have said it is Surging, but really it is a high speed miss. I have original ford shop manuals but I can not test the secondary system because the manual calls for a "scope" and I don't have one. I was hoping someone knew another way to test the secondary system of the ignition without using a "scope" OR could tell me a possible solution to my problem. Thanks, Mike

I would think surging would be ignition timing or a carb problem. I assume that you have already checked the basics, like a plug check and a simple "lift the hood" in the dark of night and look for the multicolored lights. Replace the coil and give it a try. I know the above isn't any help but I thought sombody should say something.Later ------------------ perce111 78T-Top...IAM TOO

Welcome, Mike.Did you check the vacuum advance? I had a '75 Ranchero that had the diaphragm go. An internal vacuum leak will occur along with the lack of advance could be the problem. ------------------ -Paul 70 Mach1 351C 79 Ranchero GT 97 Expedition XLT 5.4 00 SVT f150 Lightning 4149 of 4966 Born on: 06/26/2000 'If you're not the lead dog, the view never changes.'
