Hey there. Nice to join you all today. Long-time member of the ".net" forums, but new around these parts. My question is this: I need to pull my engine out to do some work. Would I be better off to pull the engine and trans together, or leave the tranny in the car? As far as I know, the trans doesn't need any work, but I've heard horror stories about getting them un-done and then re-attached inside the car (no room to work, can't reach that last bolt, etc.) What can you suggest? Thanks for your help. (PS - Nice to find you agian, Frank. I still haven't forgiven you for April Fools day 4 or 5 years ago....)

I find it much easier to pull them out together. Time under the car is minimized as is fighting with the headers. Bit mine is a manual which is a bit simpler than playing with an auto.

Hey Jeff!! Good to see you again!! Wow, it has been a while...and yeah, I still get some grief here and there for that little April Fool's Joke. Boy, Mark let me have it at Charlotte that year too. LOL. When I had the Cobra, we were gonna yank just the engine out. Yeah, it meant getting under the car, around the tight confines of the back of the engine, having something to support the tranny while the engine was out, etc, but all we were gonna mess with was the engine. If your pulling them together, just make sure the tranny doesn't end up swinging through the windshield. That could lead to a very bad day. ------------------ Frank S.----MCA Member 40390 '99 Mustang coupe '77 Ghia--"II Good" '76 Cobra--project
