I am building a 302 and am using a gear drive timing set.But have ran into a problem, the timing cover will not go on all the way. There is a ridge cast in the back side of the cover above the crank seal that is hitting the idler gears.Does anyone know if it is Ok to cut this ridge out and use the stock cover or does someone make a cover that works for this?

You can trim the deflector without any detrimental results.
