The strange ignition problem in my II has been found to be a very out of adjustment vac advance canister. I adjusted it back into the zone, but was looking to get it perfect. The II has a 306 9.0:1 compression, Edelbrock performer cam and intake, stock ratio comp cams roller rockers, 1850 vac secondary 600 cfm Holley. And perhaps the biggest igniton related issue a Edelbrock performer 100hp nitrous kit. The distributor is a Accel blueprinted dura spark unit, fired this week by a new MSD 6A. Now for 20 questions!1.What should I set the idle speed at? 2.What should I set the fuel pressure to? 3.What engine speed should the fuel pressure be set at? 3.What should the base timming be set to? 4.What should the spark gap be set at? 5.What should be the total advance? 6.What RPM, what technique do you use to set total advance? (I use, floor it in second under load and listen for pings?)

1. 750-800 rpms 2. 7 psi max 3. 10 degrees BTDC 4. .035" 5. Try 34 degrees, all in by 3000 rpms 6. Your method is good, so is good old 'seat of the pants' but you'd be wise to stick to the 34 degrees limit. Remember, sometimes you can have detonation and not even hear it. A friend of mine just pulled and engine to freshen it up, and even though he never heard it, we found evidence of preignition damage in 5 of the 8 cylinders. ------------------

Note on #6: be especially conservative with the timing considering you are running nitrous. ------------------
