 |  posted 03-07-2002 10:00 PM         i Have a 78 stang ii it's a 2.8 v6 and my starter is grounding to my oil pan on my engine.I've had the starter out twice before but i've also had to pull the transmission to get it out every time. I was wondering if there was another way to get it out instead of pulling the whole tranny   i also have the 78 stang and a 77 stang for sale if anyone is interested   thx

 |  posted 03-09-2002 12:40 AM         Not sure of the V6 setup, but with my V8, it is easiest for me to slightly jack up the motor (make sure your fan shroud is disconnected as the jacked up engine will drive the fan into the shroud) and remove the motor mount. That allows me to slide the starter down the rail to the front of the engine and then I can get it out of the car.
 I have replaced several starters that way.  Hope this helps. ------------------Motor Safe!

 |  posted 03-09-2002 07:56 PM         thx  i will try that  i pulled my starter today and then put it back in because it was grounding out to my engine oil pan, whenever i put it back in it was not touching the pan anymore but, whenever i tried to start it, it didn't do a thing, and before when ever i tried to start it my silinoid would click now it's not doing anything  do you know what this might be?
