Boy is this a job. My son and I rebuilt the engine in a 78 mustang II. The tranny always slipped out of second gear so we decided to get the syncros and gaskets and replace them. I have two different transmissions books. They both state to remove the front input shaft bearing then remove the input shaft. Does anyone have experience with this? Does anyone know a place to suggest for answers? I am having a hard time getting that bearing off. Is this something I need to have a tranny shop do? Is there a special tool? Any help is always welcome. Thanks again.

Welcome to M&M Yeti ! Nice to have you join us.
I have always removed the bearing and input as an assembly. You did remove the snap ring didn't you?
