What type of traction loc did Ford put in the MII 8 inch? Brother in law asked me a question on how the case separates, so I was looking in an old mid seventies edition of Motor Manual. It made reference to a Borg-Warner used in 74, a different style than I'm used to seeing. Just wonderingMike

They did use Borg Warner diffs,They are removable, come out the front of the axle. I dont know what you mean by seperating the case.

I guess I wasn't very clear, after the ring gear is removed from the differential housing, how do you separate the case to get to the spider or side gears.Mike

Oh now I see,If I remember correctly, after you take the ring gear out you have to remove the ten bolts on the back side of the ringto open it up.

I'm not thinking about the right diff.maybe. There is a Borg-warner locker diff.thats an integral carrier housing, and theres a traction-lock limited slip thats removable. there is also two others that are conventional.which one you got?
