Up-date on my II. I took the engine apart at the engine rebuilders. The bearings are in nasty shape. (My II had a nasty strange oil pressure problem). I had headgasket sealing problems and a fuel pump gone berserk. I figured out the gaskets and the fuel pump. Changed them both. The fuel pump is kinda racy and it needs a regulator. The head gaskets musta got some solvent on them during the install process. The oil pressure problem is due to (this is embarrassing)-an oil gallery plug missing! The crank is turned 20 on the rods and 10 on the mains. The crank is in fine shape, but we are polishing it for good measure. I have finally got back at the II, the Lincolns transmission is working properly now! The local Ford dealer screwed up the only task I asked them to do (set line pressure). The Lincolns valve body had a shift kit of some kind and the builder put another one in on top. This caused an overdrive problem (no over drive!) I took the stupid transmission out (myself) 3 times! We put a stock valve body in, and it works great and shifts like stock (?!@#y) One thing is for sure, fuel injection has nothing to due with gas mileage. The big Mark gets about 15mpg with no overdrive and about 28mpg with. It has a built in gas milage computer-part of it's bells and whistle package! I will keep you posted on the II, next summer cruising looks promising!

Glad to hear your are getting things back in order... Missing gallery plugs do kinda screw up the oil pressure a bit... Missed one on a 5.0 in a Truck once.. Wouldn't start though, the lifters would't pump up... I got real lucky..

As for me the Cleveland should be coming back from the machine shop next week so that the Torino can get it's much needed new engine.. By the time that's done it'll be time to put the II away for the winter.... It really needs something done about the brakes anyhow...

Only 6 months till cruising season!!!

Maxwell what did you have done to the Cleveland? Did you try the impossible - change the stock cam?

The engine builder and I built the bottom end of the 306 yesterday. Everything went as planned.

Today my employee and I are sticking Koni's and Eibach's in his Pontiac Sunflower GT. My other employee and I are putting a K.L.Z.E (200HP jap engine) into his MX6. (164hp stock). After working, playing, eating, sleeping and ?!@#ing sport compacts it will be nice to work on my favorite sport compact. (The V8 Mustang II kind!!!) I hope to finish the rest of the 306 soon, but Santa and all his bills are comming soon, and the wife is bugging about installing her car starter and new speakers!

It's always cruising season in my book... Burnouts in the summer, donuts in the winter....

I'm getting a bunch o crap done to the cleveland... Heads redone with hardened valves/seats, bored, balenced and all that good stuff... I also got a distributor fabed and am attempting to fab an intake for EFI.. Been working alot with the guys at the machine shop alot on this project... Although they seemd kinda dissappointed when I said 8.5:1 compressoin was the limit, and the cam had to be mild... But they still say it'll be good... Never drove a cleveland before, and I was happy with the way the 351M performed before it started loosing cylinders.. I guess I'll find out...someday..
Still got a Buick 455 (Now there is a nuts engine) a 351W and a Chubby Craprice with blown head gaskets in line before I get to mine... Not to mention it's getting cold and I been putting off the well loved persuit of firewood.. If only oil bottles burned longer...

Glad to hear yours is going to plan anyhow..
Need some more real cars around to melt down the plastic cars... Can't wait till I have 8 in the Gran Torino again... I love big steel bumpers!

The Sunflower project went great. The koni inserts went in and the Eibach's were a breeze. Still cruising weather in Canada, had the moonroof open on Lincoln and the tunes-a-playin.(Heater cranked to 32!) The leaves are falling off the trees and it's getting cold at night. If you go to work as late as me (I open the shop at 10.00am) no ice scrapping required so-far.....
