He saved our bacon... and a butt load of $$ for us!

Don had troubles getting his Flamed Pony ready for the big Nashville event. So he trailered it.
He made it to the show, but then went through two radiators and put the durned thing back on the trailer. Rotten luck for him, but danged good luck for me and Mike.

After the shin-dig we had arranged to meet Don at the K-mart parking lot at 6 am for the looooonnnngggg two day journey back home to Utah for me and Nevada for him.
But we couldn't find him at K-mart, and he couldn't find us. So we hit the trail with my two kids trailing in their stangs.
We left Nashville area around 6:30 am, and arrived in Amarillo, TX and made camp at the local Super 8.
Asked for a wake up call at 5 am, as my early riser hubby wanted to make trail by 6 am.
The wake up call rang and I smacked the phone, but it kept ringing. I finally answered and the desk clerk said "Your traveling companion, Mr. MacDonald arrived late last evening and asked you be notified he is in room 124."
Can you believe it? Big ol' city like Amarillo and Big D finds us?
Anyway, just prior to arriving in Amarillo Monday evening, KAOS started making a terrible clatter.
So upon getting up at 5 am Tuesday, he commences to ripping into the engine in the Super 8 parking lot.
Holy Moses - finds two rockers completely dysfunctional and two more very loose.
After fighting off the attack of the killer lawn sprinklers, while Don held a flashlight, he tightened everything up and off the herd of three wild Utah ponies and one trailer tethered Nevada stang hit the highway.
20 miles on Interstate 40, that damned POS KAOS starts clattering again.
In process of tighting the crappy roller rocker nuts, Mike broke a stud.

Soooo, Big D to the rescue. After a roadside fix-up and soldering the boys got a radiator in Don's flaming pony and rolled it off the trailer and put our misbehaving KAOS on it.
Don finally got to drive his car with its brand spanking new engine - the patched up radiator didn't leak and the car was a menace on the highway with Don behind the wheel.
Mike and I hopped into Don's - uh, dare I say Chebby truck, and chugged on down the highway pulling that bad boy KAOS.

Don must have been psychic to find us in Amarillo, but we are glad he did!

Mike wanted to dump KAOS on the roadside somewhere in Texas or New Mexico, but it is now confined to the corner of the garage!

THANKS DON! You're a great friend!

J.

After all the help I received in Nashville,, and all the times You & Mike have helped others,, it was the least I could do..

Besides,, 6T6 was biting at the bit.. WHOA PONY..

And,, I was really glad your motel was at the 2nd exit in Amarillo, TX and not the 23rd..

I forgot to tell Mike Jr.. He's a good and loyal son.. He never strayed from you and mike,, making sure he would be there to help.. Like some of us who needed to go off and let a little steam off.. He a great guy.. A definate changing of the guard is starting to take place there.. and that's good..

KAOS is just jealous of all the other ponies getting more attention.

Big D is a great guy. He has rotten luck but he is a great guy!

let me tell ya, he made me an LSU hat with flames and brought it with him and basiclly didn't know me from "ADAM" other than this board..... that says something. He can't imagine what a custom LSU hat means to a cajun. He'll be a life long friend now,
whether he likes it or not!
Don, you're allright in my book.

PS. I think the luck thing was temporary, after all he didn't get 6T6 looking so sharp with bad luck.

Big D is a great guy, and 6T6 is an awesome car.
What did you guys think of his flames ?
Pictures don't do 6T6 justice.

Oh, those flames on 6T6 were just awesome. It was truly something to see in person to get the full effect of it. You're right, pictures just can't do it justice, though I wish I had my camera that night to get a picture of it's beauty. Even if it wasn't behaving at that moment.

It was great for you to be there for Mike and Joyce, too. I feel real bad you had such an ordeal in Nashville.
