http://www.blueovalnews.com/2004/recalls/recall.ford.gt.19dec04.htm

Ford will quietly notify dealers who have 2005 GT models in their inventory that they may not drive, demonstrate or sell the vehicles until two recalls are performed. According to a Ford memo, representatives from Ford will contact GT owners individually and instruct them "not to drive their vehicle under any circumstances."

Damn.

If you got that kind of money to spend on a car, one little RECALL ain't gonna bug you. I'm more than sure that Ford is covering the cost of picking the car up in an enclosed trailer to take it to the dealership to do the recall. I'm sure Ferrari and Porsche have there recalls also, we...as Ford folks...just don't hear about them.

Must have been a "Mustang GT" because the GT's aren't available for "test drives"! I've seen two here in KC and they both had dealer installed seals on the doors only to be broken by the purchaser.

I disagree.

For me, if I spent that much money, I'd be pi$$ed off if a fix wasn't even available until February, much less not being able to drive it for that long.

Don't get me wrong, I know nothing is perfect, but I hate to see Ford get tripped up (if you will) with their flagship car.

I agree, I'd be real upset too.

I don't understand your point at all ???

People with that much should be ready to not have their new car when they want it ?
Or people with money ?
And in todays market is the new GT really that expensive ?

What I was saying is that people with that kind kind of money I'm sure have many other things to worry about (or not worry) about then whether or not their new car has a recall on it. I'll bet if you call Jay Leno and ask him how pissed off he is that his new GT has a recall, he'd probably say "Oh, there's a recall?"

As far as the market, what market are you living in there Scoop? The sticker on the GT is what....$180,000, and they're easily selling for double that. Seems pretty expensive in my book!

This area is full of rich people now. Not that I'll be driving a GT at any time ever. If I did have one I'd be real pissed to be told I can't drive it until we can get around to fixing it. No matter how much money I had. This area has plenty of cars that are more expensive then the new GT's. I think it makes FORD look real bad.

Be sure to take whatever you read on Blue Oval News with a huge grain of salt.

Thinking logically, if there was a problem with units 1-11, it would seem they would just contact the 10 owners directly and address it right away than to just issue a silent recall. The problems could then be fixed quietly. It's not like they are trying to keep track of 400,000 Focus units here.

From what I've read, dealers are averaging a $100,000 premium over the $139,000 list price, and people are still standing in line for them.

SUBMARINER MUSTANGER You right !! I miss read the post! It was a Mustang GT. But I was at the Dealer again yesterday to look at a Mustang GT that the dealer had called me about. While I was there I asked the question and to the best of his knowledge there was nothing that he had been made aware of or heard about. He backs up what Steve said about the price being marked up 100K plus. Oh Ya he said that to the best of his knowledge there were none in the new england area as of yet?? All are down south or on the CA. coast. He did say that you could test one if you were already approved to buy it and they feel you are going to buy it pending your test drive.

I think I also read that all the 2005s are spoken for.

There's money out there, we just don't seem to be the ones with much of it.

I was also at a dealer testing out a MUSTANG GT and the guy had the GT poster in the showroom. He is a tiny dealer and the "showroom" actually doesn't have any cars in it . He was telling me that he and his wife went to a Las Vegas dealers meeting where they had a chance to be drawn to buy a GT. That's right, they had to pay for the trip from their own pockets just for a chance to pay $100K+ to buy the GT.

They weren't drawn so they didn't get one. I asked how sweet it would be to have it parked in their showroom (though I looked around and figured out there was no way to get a car in the "showroom". He said, "sitting in the showroom?" "I'd sell it asap, you know their getting $100K over list"!

Wish I could just drive one some time. MAybe someday you'll be able to rent one in Las Vegas, a few years ago I rented a Viper out there. It was a lot of $$$ but it was fun just to do it. You only live once!
