Anyone heard anything more on this secret Ford sports car project? It is supposed to be unveiled at the 2002 North American auto show. It is styling boss J. Mays pet project and takes styling cues from the GT-40. Anyway, I read this info in the new Automobile magazine for what it's worth.

Haven't heard anything solid yet. It's a mid-engine sports car?------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 M code 351C 4V/FMX/3.25 open '72 Mustang Sprint Coupe 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Lok '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip '97 Probe GTS 2.5L DOHC Ford. The closer you look, the better WE look!

Yes, it is suppose to be a mid-engine. I've read this in more than one publication now. Story is they named this "project Petunia" figuring nobody would suspect a sports car project if they gave it a flower name. Anyway, I sure hope it's true because Ford needs an answer to the vette and viper.

Hmmmm, I was at a local Ford store (getting a little service on the red truck) and I had an interesting conversation with the service writer. Now this is the guy who told me about the Bullitt project LONG before the show car came out. He says that Ford has a project car... Basically a GT-40 clone, that is built to 2002 safety and emissions specs. He stressed that it is a lot more GT-40 than GT-90... I wonder... ------------------ "It only takes money" Dwayne M&M Member #18 '94 Lightning #942 of 4007 '70 Mach1 '69 Cyclone Spoiler II '65 Galaxie 500 + parts car
