I just bought a half completed Cobra kit car from someone who needed to sell it. Anyways he had purchased a fuel injected 95 ford engine from Ford Motorsports. As you might know, the engine uses a serpentine belt system (it's not on the engine) But I do have the pullys (altenatory, water pump, and crank). Since I do not plan on using power steering or AC and do not have the tensioner, what's the best way to hook up the belt system??? The water pump does not have the grooves like the alt or crank pullys. Do I have to use a tensioner??? I also need to aquire the mounting brackets, was there a none powersteering/AC option for a 95 mustang? Thanks

Welcome, Frist! You do need a tensioner, but once you install that, all you need to do is measure the length of the belt you need without the P/S or A/C. The brackets may need to custom made, since they stick A/C and P/C on everything these days.

March Performance should be able to help with conversion brackets and idlers. The water pump is not grooved because it spins backwards off of the smooth side of the belt. Welcome to M&M! [This message has been edited by cpmaverick (edited 04-28-2001).]

Ford does make a bracket to mount an Alt. with out an AC Compressor. It was used on the 93 Cobra R's and I think on the 95 R's. Since you are using a 302 most brackets from Fox Mustangs will work just as well as brackets from an SN95 Mustang. Go to your local wrecking yard and look around.
