Even see a picture of the original GT-40 nose, as delivered by Lola? I always thought it looked better than the aerodynamically-altered version as seen on the red car above.Ollie

The above was meant to be a reply, not a new post.

Sorry for the late response, I forgot all about the post. I had seen photos of the original car while flipping through a book of Shelby American factory photographs. It showed the car as delivered from England, with the wire wheels. It quickly got Halibrand mags as part of the development, and some aerodynamic/cooling changes in the treatment. I can't remember the title of the book, it's a coffee table type like you'd find at any Barnes & Noble.Ollie [This message has been edited by Ollie (edited 03-16-2001).]

OK, I found some pictures.http://www.thecarsource.com/shelby/gt40/startgt_40.html The top photo shows the early nose, the leading edge is sharply defined and the fog lights (driving lights?) are under there in the valance area. The bottom photo is the same kind of thing. Look at how much of the front wheels are exposed at the front, parts of the nose just didn't extend low enough to prevent lift at speed. They weren't as aerodynamic in the wind tunnel allegedly. ------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member Fleet of FoMoCo products Moneymaker Bio US Class Nationals link
