George,
I rec'ved my Feb '00 iss of Mustang Monthly on page 44-45 is a pic of a 67 Shelby 350 with a red light attached to the upper scoop..

WHY??
Whats it for...
Option?
Looks stupid!(IMHO)

The side running lights in the upper scoops were added for interest I suppose and were wired to come on with the brake lights. What Shelby didn't know at the time was the state of CA didn't allow the use of side running lights installed that high up on the car. They were installed in approx the first 200 cars and then eliminated when Fred Goodell became chief engineer in Sept 66. Personally I think they are pretty cool and an indication that you have an early 67 car. Hope this helps.

The lights on the scoops are for identifing the cars when racing. Back in the 50's Ferria & astin martin too name a few all had them w diff. colors ---S.
