Anyone else have to suffer this crap ? Over the weekend, we were shopping in a few stores and we came across idiots who think its cool to use their cell phones as little radios. At first, I thought it was just a piss poor ringtone choice, but it seems that these turds are playing songs that they've loaded onto their phones and playing it thru the phones speaker. They just carry the damn thing around the store playing their crap music. WTF ?

Nextel people are that happy when their phones are in range. The Union Pacific had a great decision come down around y2k. Tried to get every RR cop on Nextel. Probably made sense money wise but boy did coverage suck once the boys started ditching whatever worked for them for the leave you walking back to the interstate phones.

I have nextel, and so do the local cops. Coverage is TERRIBLE in the country. Everyone got on board because they were the first with the push to talk system. Mine is a company phone so I dont pay for it - hence cant really complain about the service. but It surprised me to see how bad the coverage is. China has better coverage...

Why have a "push to talk" feature? I don't want to hear what the other person has to say about your hair, food, sex life, etc. ------------------ fsm

Most people dont use it but the push to talk phones have a private feature that allows you to keep it to your ear.The good part about the PTT system is: only one person talks at a time. While youre talking you keep it brief because you know the person on the other end is being silenced. The end result is more brief, to the point communication, and its free and doesnt cost you any minutes... if only more people would use the private feature.

Guess I'm one of those idiots then.I've got MP3s loaded up onto my phone...haven't gotten headphones yet because 1) I don't use the feature *that* much, and 2) I can't use just any old set of headphones. My cell phone has a very small jack on it, that isn't the standard size jack. So only my wireless carrier sells these headphones...or I need to find an adapter (good luck). I haven't bothered quite yet. My songs are limited because I "only" have a 1 GB card to store stuff on, and that has to be shared with photos too. So I still use the MP3 player I bought separately. Also, the battery life would be greatly reduced on my phone if I constantly used the player feature. I do wish I could play the MP3s over the Bluetooth set though. That would be nice. Be even more of a drain though on the battery. Watch out for the future...cuz it's coming strong and hard. ------------------ Frank S.----MCA Member 40390 '03 Mustang GT coupe '77 Ghia--"II Good" My GT on MMS

I wasn't really talking about the nextel phones - around here (thankfully) thats ancient history. quote: Originally posted by IIGood: Guess I'm one of those idiots then.
nah - me thinks you wouldn't be playing ghetto rap with every 3rd word being curses in a store with little children present, or really grating hindi ?!? music so loud that its distorted coming out of the phones speaker. quote: Originally posted by IIGood:

yeah, when my company upgraded my cell, I got the headphones as part of the standard package - not that I use them as I havent loaded any songs on my phone. quote: Originally posted by IIGood:

bring it on. I am not a technophobe by any stretch of the imagination - pretty much the opposite. But ... advances in technology aren't always positive - witness people trying to drive and dial/talk on a cell phone.
