Hmmm, I don't know if I like the sound of this...

From a Hemmings email:

Ford to build Italian-designed Mustang?

Throughout the years, Americans and Italians have worked together to build cars. There have been some success stories and some dudsthe Chrysler-Maserati TC comes to mind.
But when one takes the hot-selling new Mustang and combines that with gorgeous Italian design by Fabrizio Giugiaro, well, it might be a home run for Ford, which is suffering terrible times.
There is a photo floating around various Web sites of the proposed car that, from the rear, looks like the new Camaro, which we wont see for about two years, if the latest talk from GM is correct.
There are rumors that the new Italian Mustang will debut at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show. The biggest styling differences from a stock 2007 Mustang are smoother lines and the aforementioned rear treatment. The taillamps are completely different and the wheel arches are hugelikely done so to accommodate monster rubber.
The interior is redesigned, and while the windshield is integrated, there is a full glass roof. It is expected that Ford design chief, J. Mays, will work with Giugiaro on the new car and that it might be powered by the most powerful Mustang engine everthe 500hp V-8 from the new GT500. Stay tuned.

Here's the story with pictures. The front end is kind of Camaro-ish, but overall, I think I like it.....minus the lambo doors, of course!! Check out that roof line and rear end! I like that!!

Not wild about the tail lights and the glass roof...but other than that I think it's awesome. Lots sleeker.
