Just saw a promo on the Speed channel for the new show. No sandbagging, no bullsh!t, it's all about the cash this time. I guess we'll see in a couple of weeks.

You make it sound interesting now.

Previous attempts by people to get me to take interest have failed. Including my cube mate who was involved in the build up and racing of a Mustang on the show.

So far its been "Yawn" because of the BS.

I agree. I watched it once, I thought you were supposed to build the fastest car and race it out. Then they start giving lengths ? Whta kind of crap is that. Run what you brung up and up or stay home.

They got the name right though "pinks"

I stopped watching Pinks for a while because of things I?ve heard through the grape vine about the show. However, I do believe it's turned around, getting much better and more credible the way it?s handled now.

On the other hand, I think the host isn?t always fair when there is a disagreement between the two sides. I believe he has cost some of the guys & a girl to loose their rides by pushing the negotiators to take his deal or loose the cars, leaving them with no choice.

I don't think they have as much as a time crunch as they lead everyone to believe, it isn?t live TV.

62 Ford pickup, which was well driven by a Female I might add, took the 10k plus side bets.

LOL... that's a good one Sam. Although I envy and respect the guys that can make a car rocket down the 1/4, I also appreciate the fun of negotiating a corner at high speed. In fact just today, I got the rear end loose on an exit ramp by letting up on the throttle halfway through. Charlie

Yesterday was the first time I had seen the show. There was a marathon of the Pinks on the speed channel. I don't know if I believed that everyone was really pushing their cars as hard
as they could. It did beat watching the Macy parade, which is usually on at our Uncles house that we go to every year for Turkey Day. Even the non-car women were watching it. Especially when the two blondes were going at it. The girl in the Nova was even cute. Made me proud when my wife was explaining to a couple of the guys there what they were negotiating over. They couldn't understand the car lengths...Their lack of knowledge was
understood as they drove a Mitsubishi Eclipse with a fart can on the back of it. Told me it was a sports car! If it wasn't raining out so hard I would have brought over the stang. Then showed them what a MUSCLE car is!!

With the 16 cars they chose to run with and a .4 second spread in qualifying times, I think that it would be more interesting if they used a Pro tree start instead of a bald headed dude waving his arms, even if he is the producer.

I think the show was well done, when they caught that 9.7 dude, he got the boot. I'm just happy the Ford came out the winner, it had some tuff competition.

Are you sure? I didn't see that part of the show, or I would have been rooting for something else, I thought it was ALL Ford.

I'd like to see you use them all at the same time?

Us drag racers use both of ours when we race.

That's good!!!

At least with Roadracing, the adrenalin rush lasts 15 minutes, not 15 seconds...Talk about premature. Ha-HaA

I don't think I would want to see your underwear after you experience a 4 or 5 foot wheelstand and see nothing but sky out of the windshield.

Hopefully the "all out" version will be a little better than the current version - less emphasis on negotiations and more on what they brought to the track.

As for the road race vs. drag racing...

I've done autocrossing and drag racing and rode around on a road course. I can say - without a doubt - the best one is... whichever event I am at! A friend of mine is a die-hard drag racer. I had him grabbing for things when I took him for a ride autocrossing. On the other hand, he had my undivided attention when he gave his 10 second car 1/2 throttle. I'm sure everyone is just kidding around, but I would suggest that everyone take the time to experience "the other racing", whatever that may be. The only danger is that you might need to get another car set up for the other type of racing, too.
