I don't know how many of you have downloaded Google Earth,, but it is magical.. It's the earth as you've never seen it before.. I just downloaded it an it's truly amazing..First go to www.GoogleEarth.com click on get Google Earth- free Then you just have to experiment with your mouse and left click your way to wherever you want to go. Over cities and towns, you can zoom in so close as to see your car in your driveway. Mountain areas don't have the resolution that populated areas do but what is really great is that the slide control opposite the zoom allows you to tilt the image so that you can "fly" forward with a horizon ahead, rather than looking straight down, ie. from the satellite. If you don't have a high speed connection, the program probably won't allow you to advance very fast at all (with any clarity) until the information is uploaded which (after flying here and there this morning) in my opinion would be reason enough to get one! You can check the 'roads' overlay box on the left to help you stay oriented. It looks to me like the advance control has you flying/moving at around 500 mph when bring yourself down to within a couple of thousand feet or so above the ground. What is incredible is that you are seeing actual photographs of what's below and ahead, all magically strung together by this program. Its not just some detailed map. You can do a 360 degree turn with the curved arrow button to practice your "airwork" in addition to the forward, back, left and right controls. Have FUN it's AMAZING.. I was looking at SLC,, and I could focus in so close that you could see my partners neighborhood,, house,, car in driveway,, shop & Motorhome out back.. ------------------ Don 6T6 Fastback 331 STROKER, T-5 Metallic Royal Blue & Silver Candy Orange-Red Flames by McGrafix My Pics

No, I've found it has great detail in highly populated areas but not so much on the fringes.A while ago I used it to 'visit' the site of the former World Trade Center in New York, it was very humbling. ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '70 Mustang Convertible - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 XL

This is a very program but, since I am a computer moron can somebody please walk me through the procedure as to how I punch in my own address in nanaimo so I can see my house. I just can not figure it out, please explain it in steps that are easy to follow. Also how do I get rid of all the stuff on the left side so I can view it in full screen. Thank you very much in advance.------------------ JOHN 65 FASTBACK 2+2 87 TAURUS WAGON 03 F150 XLT SUPER CREW 4X4 SHORT BOX Member: PACIFIC COAST MUSTANG ASSOCIATION Member:Vancouver Island Mustang Association M&M #1710 65 FASTBACK 2003 F150 XLT SUPER CREW 4X4

I must have missed the first time this software suggestion was posted. Great piece of freeware! Cruised over to Hawaii to check out the U.S.S Arizona Memorial. Not exactly where it said it would be. But, none the less I found it across the harbor cross referencing to a picture the browser brought up. Thanks for bringing this freeware to our attention again Big D.------------------ Jim 68 Mustang Coupe...My Show Car.

How do you guys get the pictures to be so clear? I can not get mine clear they are blurry. I have my resolution set as per the instructions but it looks like crap. There are areas where there aren't hi-res satellite images available or allowed, in those instances, crappy (sometimes old) images are used as in the case where I live.
Here's another image library to try. http://local.live.com/ ------------------ -Paul 70 Mach1 351C/FMX 79 Ranchero GT 302 smogger/C4 97 Expedition XLT 5.4 05 F150 Lariat SuperCab 5.4 4x4 'If you're not the lead dog, the view never changes.'

I tried the Vancouver area using local live. Their images are crappy too. Try an are like New York or Washington, D.C. and they come in crystal clear. Don't know about Area 51 or Neverland Ranch though... ------------------ -Paul 70 Mach1 351C/FMX 79 Ranchero GT 302 smogger/C4 97 Expedition XLT 5.4 05 F150 Lariat SuperCab 5.4 4x4 'If you're not the lead dog, the view never changes.'

I wonder if you can find the ancient markings in South America that you can only see from way up in da sky.. That would be cool..What's awesome is to zero in on something like Ron's Place of Work,, then TILT it and spin it around 360 degrees.. ------------------ Don 6T6 Fastback 331 STROKER, T-5 Metallic Royal Blue & Silver Candy Orange-Red Flames by McGrafix My Pics

Want to know something even scarier?I can also give you the addy to the so called "garage majah", parcel number, estimated value, so forth and so on. Come on guys! This in part is what I do for a living! Investigating property! If you're going to insist on clipping and pasting the map please leave out the degree-minutes-seconds!!! I believe you do a dis-service to other members on this board by displaying that which they may want private! *If it was me I would edit that which shows too much info.........NOW!!!* ------------------ Jim 68 Mustang Coupe...My Show Car.
