Hey, Big D, I`ll be driving to Las Vegas to spectate at the NHRA National event in a couple of days (leaving EARLY Weds AM). According to MapQuest, they suggest I-82E,onto I-84E, which turns into I-15S. This takes us through Boise & Salt Lake City, but I have heard of an alternate route near Twin Falls,& thru Wells, is this any quicker, & if so, what is the highway called, how do we access it, and approx. how much time does it save? We are hoping to make the trip there from Vancouver Canada in 24 hours or so, hopefully driving straight thru (there are 3 drivers). Thanks.------------------

Rory,,Yep,, it's much quicker through Wells,, than to go through SLC.. Take US93 South From Twin Falls,, Idaho to Wells.. It's 115 miles from Twin to Wells.. I should be home getting ready to go to Boise to see my sons.. Here's the directions from Wells to Vegas.. Continue on US-93 south 138 miles to Ely,, NV.. As you come into Ely,, Follow the signs for US93.. You have to turn Left at,, I think,, the 3rd Stop Light.. Once you've turn Lt,, proceed about 1/2 mile and turn Rt at McDonald's Burgers - That's Rt6 ) From Ely take Route-6 South approximately 30 miles and turn Lt on Rt318.. 318 takes you through Lund, NV.. Just outside of Lund is the 93 mile stretch of Highway where they run the Silver State Challenge-Open Road Race.. 318 takes you to US93 again,, turn Rt at the STOP SIGN and head south to Ash Springs & Alamo.. When you leave the little town of Alamo,, it's about 105 miles to I-15,, turn Rt onto I-15 South 20 miles to Vegas.. LVMS is in North Vegas along side the Interstate as you come into town.. It will be on the Left as you drive into Las Vegas.. You can't miss it.. Give me a call before you get to town..

Thanks, Don, since I`m traveling with a couple of other guys in a Chevy pickup no less, I doubt we will be stopping in Wells, except for maybe gas. If we do, & it`s not too late or early, I`ll try and give you a call, if not, thanks anyways for the directions.------------------

U's Welcome..  Have a good trip.. Drive Safe and Watch out for NV Highway Patrol.. They allow 5 mph over the posted speed limit,, but don't push your luck,, save it for VEGAS.. ------------------

Thanks, Don, just got back from Vegas, made good time 21 hours each way. I called both your numbers around 4.30 PM Weds. afternoon, while we were filling the truck with gas in Wells, but no answer on either number.We did see a blue 65 Mustang coupe at the gas station in Wells, pretty solid looking car.That drive from Wells is LOOONG, straight, and quite boring, until it gets dark and you are waiting for potental "road kill" victums to pop out in front of you!! We did see a couple of dead deer as well as many "flat" rabbits, but all we did in was a few thousand insects. We did notice an awful lot of cops in a 5 mile stretch of 84, but luckily, we were able to keep em out of our wallets. Thanks.------------------
