I just ran into two examples of stupidity within minutes of each other. {or maybe it's just me?}

Example 1. I call FedEx to schedule a pick-up. The lady starts taking my info, then asks for my account number. I tell I don't have one because this is my first pickup I've ever scheduled with FedEx here. {I usually used UPS, but the difference of $105 vs. $71 just made me a convert.} So she tells me I have to call a different number to get an account number, and it's free and will only take a minute, but I'll have to call them tomorrow because they are closed on Sunday.

If it's simple and easy, why couldn't she just give me an account number then and there? They DO work for the same company, after all.

Example 2. When I did my state taxes, they provided a web address where I can check on the progress of my refund. So I log in, enter my social security number and pass word, and what does it tell me? Something to the effect of 'You have filed your taxes, contact your bank to see if the refund has been sent yet.' Duh, gee, thanks!

I swear, if people keep getting any more stupid, we're going to have to start handing out breathing instructions.

Try logging into Cingulars web site using your account number. I keep getting "Try again later"

I'll try that when I pay the bill...

To prove my point in example 1 even further, when I called FedEx yesterday to set up an account and arrainge for a pick up, they told me they don't pick up from residences for the cheapo ground shipping in my area.

Obituary for Mr. Common Sense

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Mr. Common Sense.
Mr. Sense had been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how
old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic
red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such value lessons as
knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the
worm and that life isn't always fair.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend
more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not
kids, are in charge).

His health began to rapidly deteriorate when well intentioned but
overbearing regulations were set in place. - Reports of a
six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a
classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after
lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only
worsened his condition.

Mr. Sense declined even further when schools were required to get
parental consent to administer aspirin to a student; but, could not
inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have
an abortion.

Finally, Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments
became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received
better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense finally gave up the ghost after a woman failed to
realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot, she spilled a bit in
her lap, and was awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust,
his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son,
Reason. He is survived by two stepbrothers; My Rights and Ima Whiner.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If
you still remember him, pass this on; if not, join the majority and do
nothing.

Went to autozone at lunch and asked them if they had any timing lights for sale. The counter guy did not know what that was. He was the assistant manager.

Like people who use cell phones and complain that they are going to have to switch companies because "everytime I increase the minutes on my plan I use even more".

I thought it only ran rampid in Mesquite, and that was because of all the in-breeding. I admit to being ignorant on things, but some people should NOT be allowed to open their mouth's.

I got that "deer in the headlights" stare when I asked the largest parts store in town for a dwell meter. I went to ebay.
