So, while I was out getting parts to do the brakes on the Festiva I decided to stop in Lowes just to see how much their sod cost (see dog post). I couldnt find it so asked a guy in the back of the garden shop and he told me it was out front and that he just wanted to get rid of it so he would sell it to me for $.50 a roll! Yup, normally $3.00 for the 9 sq ft roll and I got it for $.50 . I wasnt even going to buy any yet but I saved $150 so I couldnt pass it up. I only need 450 sq ft but bought 60 rolls just to be safe(540 sq ft). So, I have a lot of work that I need to do. Luckily the backyard is dirt right now so there is nothing to kill. Time to rent a rototiler and get some soil additives. A buddy of mine has a F150 so he helped me out. Now I have to go finish the brakes on the Festiva . ------------------ Tim M&M Member #35 1965 Mustang coupe, 200 I6, Holley 2300, Clifford header, true duals w/ 26" Smithys 1988 Mustang GT AOD vert, 15.810 @ 88.871 mph 100% stock w/ no traction 1991 Ford Festiva, 30+ mpg, enough said https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/I65Stang.html

My wife didn't like the way our grass had problems growing in the back yard, so she came up with this idea to get rid of all the grass. We had a wandering path of gravel thru the center around the shed towards the gate, and on either side of the path the whole thing is wood-chipped. Then we planted some bushes, marked out a flower bed, put a small two tier pond in the other corner. It turned out very nice I'm very happy with it. The dogs love it too, and best of all NO MOWING! My previous house had a 15x30 pool, a large stone patio and detached garage. I only had a small strip of grass running down the side of the pool for the dog which was green all year around. I've since downsized to a condo, NO MORE YARD WORK! ------------------ reliving youth [This message has been edited by exlocal (edited 03-25-2005).]

Yeah, I have to get a lawnmower now. Luckily the area is small (450 sq ft) so maybe I'll just get a push mower lol. I tell you what, moving 60 things of sod at over 45 lbs a piece sure is a good workout .

GROAN!! Though, I don't have room to talk...a couple years ago, a co-worker had a customer approach him and ask how much the potting soil was that we carried at the time. Co-worker didn't know, so he relayed the question to me (I was standing a little down the aisle from him), and without even thinking about it, I replied "I don't know, but it's dirt cheap!" The customer laughed, but the co-worker shook his head in disgust and said "I'm gonna hurt you, Frank." LOL.

mike there actually used to be a product that would do just that!! (cant remember the name of it) it was sprayed on tobacco plants to stop the groth of suckers on the stalk. a farmer friend of mine sprayed it on his lawn and only had to cut his grass 3-4 times per summer. of course our fine government has banned it for some reason. probably some politicians son was in the lawn care business!!!!!!!!! ------------------ mike r racing is real everything else is just a game. 81 capri-302-7.25 @93mph 1/8 1.54 60 ft. http://community.prestage.com/Member+Pages/789.aspx M&M member #839

Well, my dad and I laid down the sod today and I must say it looks great. Still have like 10 rolls of sod left too. I am thinking of rolling it out on my neighbors driveway (the ones who cats keep getting on my cars). Now I am sitting here thinking about all the work to keep the lawn up lol.

You sure can't beat an instant lawn. You just have to water the heck out of it for the next couple weeks, right?------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 351C 4V/FMX/3.25 Open '70 Mustang Convertible 250 I6/3 speed/2.79 Open '72 Mustang Sprint Hardtop 351C 4V/FMX/4.30 Trac Loc '94 F-150 XL 5.8L/E4OD/3.55 Limited Slip
