If I werent going through this on my wifes computer I would find it hard to believe. Check the links below.http://www.ahbl.org/notices/isearch.php and http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/remark,12733617~mode=flat~days=9999 [This message has been edited by Buster (edited 03-18-2005).]

That is part of the reason that every time you download something you must read the fine print. Have seen many rider programs added to downloads and you end up with something you never wanted and is not fun to get rid of.------------------ -1974 351w Block Bored .30-1969 351w Heads Fully Ported -Custom made Ford 9" with 3" Axle Tubes-28 Detroit Locker-3.73 Gears-Shelby Traction Bars Pics Michael

The problem with this one is its not always your choice.... it also has an auto download feature, called driveby download, downloading without your knowledge. No fine print to read then.

I have spywareblaster running in the background. It blocks most spyware. That and Zone Alarm which monitors everything that is comming in plus anything that is going out. If you do not add something to the approved list it will halt and ask you what you want to do.------------------ -1974 351w Block Bored .30-1969 351w Heads Fully Ported -Custom made Ford 9" with 3" Axle Tubes-28 Detroit Locker-3.73 Gears-Shelby Traction Bars Pics Michael

Does this look lagit?[image]http://www.broadbandreports.com/r0/download/778719~9fd658ae13b131d84872fc696a8ce1fd/wmp905.jpg[/image] *edit* for some reason I can't get the image to show??? Well, it's not... all you need to do is open your Windows Media Player and if you have the whatever it takes to make this happen, youll download this crapware. Im really not sure how it works, however, my point is how can a Company do something like this and get away with it. Without breaking any laws? Take a look at this part of their EULA: Which youll never see if it downloads without your knowledge. quote:
By installing the Software, you understand and agree that the Software may, without any further prior notice to you, automatically perform the following: display advertisements of advertisers who pay a fee to iSearch and/or it's partners, in the form of pop-up ads, pop-under ads, interstitials ads and various other ad formats, display links to and advertisements of related websites based on the information you view and the websites you visit; store non-personally identifiable statistics of the websites you have visited; redirect certain URLs including your browser default 404-error page to or through the Software; provide advertisements, links or information in response to search terms you use at third-party websites; provide search functionality or capabilities; automatically update the Software and install added features or functionality or additional software, including search clients and toolbars, conveniently without your input or interaction; install desktop icons and installation files; install software from iSearch affiliates; and install Third Party Software. In addition, you further understand and agree, by installing the Software, that iSearch and/or the Software may, without any further prior notice to you, remove, disable or render inoperative other adware programs resident on your computer, which, in turn, may disable or render inoperative, other software resident on your computer, including software bundled with such adware, or have other adverse impacts on your computer.

I got this on friday night and after fighting for hours, I finally reformatted. I used adaware and Nortons both and I got it looking for song lyrics. ------------------ "It's better to have loved a short girl, Then never to have loved a tall" http://webpages.charter.net/adragon8u/mystang

Well from all the reading I've done so far there isn't a way to TOTALLY remove it yet. Not without damaging other software. I think the only way to completely get rid of it is to reformat....I found one site that said to startup Windows XP in Safe Mode and run Hijack This and remove their files, however, my wife's computer will NOT startup in safe mode now and I'm sure it has something to do with this crapwares Coding. btw, my kids download music quite a bit and that's where I think it came from. If you use KAZZA it is the worst for spyware and virus. I heard over 30% of the downloads are infected.------------------ -1974 351w Block Bored .30-1969 351w Heads Fully Ported -Custom made Ford 9" with 3" Axle Tubes-28 Detroit Locker-3.73 Gears-Shelby Traction Bars Pics Michael
