well today i picked up the tbird. My question is it is registered in new jersey. I live in Pa Im not sure but i thoguht it was ok for the ladie to just sign the title over to me and be done with it. this way i can go to a place to get it registered. do i need the ladie present since she lives so far away? Im not sure. also my second question is. since the car will be insured under my fathers name does the vehicle have to be registered to him or can it be registered to me? I guess I have to wait for Pa guys to resond to this since it could be different in some states

Best advice I can think of is to contact your local DMV and ask them.

If you go to two different offices I'll bet you get two different answers.

When I sent in the title application for my Q-code 1969 Mach I 428CJ they made a typographical error when they transferred the VIN from the Florida title to the Illinois title. Instead of a Q in the fifth digit they put a Z. I noticed it right away when I got the new title and contacted them to make a correction, I sure didn't want their mistake to hurt the value of my Q-code. They told me I must have written down the wrong VIN when I sent in the paperwork. I said "Does that mean I can just put down anything for a VIN and they'll give me a title?" She said no, of course not. So I told her that argument didn't make sense, and I knew the VIN because at the time it was my AOL password. She finally admitted it was their mistake and they sent the paperwork back and made the correction.

I think since the Q and Z are both within range of the left pinkie finger on the keyboard they just hit the wrong key.

It would have been interesting to keep the title...after all, a Z code is a Boss 429!

I believe legally you are supposed to have the owner present. When I bought my car from CA. I just had the owner sign the title and I didn't have any problem getting it registered. What's the owner from Ca. supposed to come here??? I think you need a bill of sale signed by the owner. Ray
