I was heading off to a meeting tonight and I got cut off by a riced out car - the wing, the fart can and all of the works. I noticed his license plate: RKT - SHP. Now I know he meant "RocKeT SHiP", but the warped side of me came out and it ended up being "RicKeTy SHiP". Now if anyone was paying attention to me at that moment, they would have seen me in my truck all by myself laughing my @$$ off.

Sometimes it pays to insure that your vanity plate can't be translated into something else.

YES! Me too!

I also crack up every time the local Chevy dealer runs his ads and says "Remember! These Chevrolets won't last long!"

Sam,
Had an Altima pass me on the interstate the other day and the plate said, "J. Gibson". Now what was she doing driving my car and when did I buy it???? LOL It certainly wasn't Terri behind the wheel.

Yeah, my plates read His Passion. Shortened to HSPASSN.

Now, I figured some people might read that as He's Passing, as in, I'm driving fast, but a co-worker of my wifes read the plate as Hispanic Assassin! LOL!

I'm neither Hispanic, nor am I a killer. And I'm sure not an assassin of Hispanics!

We have a friend that always says, "Have at it". She always wanted a vanity plate to match and was going to get HAVATIT. I won't bother to explain why she was convinced not to get it!

Well this is not about other peoples plates but yet a rant in the pursuit of the one I have wanted for about 6 years!!!

Last summer I finally got to a point financially where I could justify blowing $80.00 bucks on a vanity plate....

A friend of mine has an insurance agency, took my money, and sent in the forms.

We had searched to make sure that my dream plate had not been taken....

The search came back clean!!!!

I sent in my request for RAGTOP

I have always referred to my car as "The Ragtop" and felt that was the perfect moniker for it!!!

Low and behold a couple of months later I received my check back for the plate and a letter stating that RAGTOP is a hateful racial slur

I damn near lost it!!!

I got the names of of a few guys higher up the ladder to try and reason with them

So I have no vanity plate due to the fact that "Common sense is that common anymore"

But I am not BITTER!!!!

Ed,
That suxs. Since when is "RAGTOP" a slur New one on me. Now RAGHEAD, that could be considered a slur. But Ragtop??? I don't see it. Fight the good fight Ed and get your plate.

NOTE: No offense to any and all that may see "RAGHEAD" as a slur. It is only used for context/refrence and nothing else.

My first thought on Stewart's plate: Hospital Association.

We are allowed 6 characters on our plates, i knew a guy that applied for 'FKN EH' and 'FAH Q' and several others, he ended up normal with ones oddly enough.

Dave- Good luck on the Chief's board this year.

I know it's not original, but when I lived in VA Beach, the plates on my Ford Ranger read TR1GGER. Didn't have a stang at the time or these plates would have been on it. Still have them hanging in my garage.

For the longest time I had GOO BYE on my Sprint. I dropped it when cops keep stopping me for having no front plate. I refused to put that on the FRONT of my car. Then I went to HRS PWR. That stood for horsepower, but you wouldn't believe how many people didn't get it. Most thought it was 'hours power' When our state starting to allow seven digits I went to HRSE PWR and people seem to get that easier. I still use that plate on my truck.

I used to have a plate that said, "MY LXVI". Many people expressed their ignorance of Roman Numerals on that one.

I thought mine was pretty immune to bad translation, since my tags read HWYMAN until one day when someone in a parking lot didn't see the W on the plate. I'll let you do the math.

You should move to Mississippi - they only give you one plate and that's for the back. You can put anything on the front your littler heart desires.

I've been hoping Maryland would drop the front plate for years. I've written to my delegates and to the Secretary of Transportation of the State. Best answer I can get for keeping the front plate is that law enforcement says it would make identifing a car much more difficult.
