~even bad ones!!

Last Thursday was raining and nasty all day.

I was about 20 mins. into a morning aerobic class when a gym employee came to the door and said, "anybody in here drive a Yellow Mustang convertible?"

I stepped out into the hallway and she told me someone had hit my car.

My first response was, "oh, $hit"

Then panic

Then almost tears

then, as I hit the front door the girl that had hit my car was at the door and it was anger.

She said, "it's really not that bad. Just a scrape and will need to be buffed."

I retorted rather briskly, "well, you will be need to be willing to pay for that"

Then I saw it.....

......I felt so bad for being such a nasty grrl!

It was nothing ~ not a dent, not a ding....nothing..... thank goodness!

I apologized for being so yucky and explained to her that I had just gotten the title to the car on Tuesday and for about six weeks had terrible dreams about being hit....

....hopefully this was IT!!!

Now, I hope she learns to drive that big ole' van she was in. I think she hit two of us while backing out of her parking spot.....

lucky you, you dodged a bullet! Somee have no respect for other peoples cars. I go out of my way to park my new brand x car in the furthest, most remote parking spot available, and wouldnt you know it, Ive already gotten 2 people {one on each side so at least its symmetrical } that had the kindness to open their doors just a little too wide.

darkhorse... No respect for others cars? She at least had the decency to seek out the owner, some people wouldn't have. Give her credit for being honest there.

Spot on. People who hit others' cars and go out of their way to track down the owner are heroes.
Mind you, I've done that too ... so maybe I'm being a little boastful

Tom, if you re-read my post, I said that she was lucky. Then I went on to say that some people (in other words other people, not the girl that hit her) might not have been that nice and just driven off - as was the case with me.

Good dreams from now on okay.

A couple of years ago, I bought my Ranger, just a POS to drive and abuse, first day I drove it to work, door ding, stinkin thing had less than 200 miles on it. Of course no one admitted to it, and these are guys I work with everyday.

I'd go further and say MOST people will take off these days if they think they won't get caught. At least that's been my experience. I think ethical people are down to about 10-15% of the population.

I remember a time when payroll made a mistake and paid me a $200 bonus I wasn't entitled to, and I called them and had it corrected. Word spread through the office that I had done that and everyone, with the exception of one other guy, and including the person I spoke to in payroll thought I was an idiot.

Oh yes, she definately did the right thing by telling me.

I felt bad for being a jerk and did apologize to her for that.

I think it's important to be honest, Steve.

And would have done the same thing you did.

the way I look at it is eventually payroll will find their mistake and want their money back....

Back in 1998 when I had my "ONLY" brand new car ever (Escort ZX2)...

Not a dent, not a ding, not a scratch.... New car smell still in tact!!!

I was at a restaurant in Calgary and the lot was pretty much full....

Except for the perfect spot!!!

Right beside a beautiful red 1967 Mustang!!!

I thought the owner of such a fine automobile would have the same kind of respect for other peoples cars as I have!

Apparently not!!!

My first ding in my brand new car was given to me by a classic owner!

I was pissed!

We all think the worst when it comes to our cars, its just a natural reaction!

We all love our cars, they are much more then just a mode of transportation and we sometimes over react!

Its a great thing that the girl did come looking for you, also very rare

Glad it was nothing!

Now get those good dreams flowing!!!!

When I started reading this Post,, I thought you were going to tell us the girl hit your Convt. and NOW you can have someone else pay for the much needed repairs..

That's pretty much what is happening to 6T6.. The crumbled fenders are taking care of all the other little dings as well as totally painted and new & improved FLAMES..

Sometimes an accident can have a silver lining in the form of an insurance payment. Just because they say you have $xx dollars in damage doesn't mean you have to spend the money that way.
I had some damage to the side step/nerf bar on my truck, along with some dents along the rocker panel. They wrote me a check to cover the damage and said if the shop I take it to needs more money they would have to call for a re-inspect.
I decided to live with the dented rocker (its hardly noticeable), used the money to pay for stainless side bars and dual exhaust. Still have money left over for hood black-out and side stripes!
