As we are a rather diverse group here, I wondering if anyone can help us out with this one: we are looking to buy bulk/wholesale glass test tubes or unused empty aluminum cigar tubes. we've googled and ebayed for hours - either the tubes are too short {google} (we need ~5.5" tubes) or the sellers too greedy {ebay}. Used is fine as long as they are not hazardous (previous nuclear or medical use). odd request,I know ~ but I'll elaborate further as time goes on. Thanks.

Have you tried a restaurant supply store? A lot of the bars sell shooters/drinks in tubes like that. When I worked for a restaurant I could order them by the gross. Not sure which place now it has been a few years. Its a idea anyway. Hope it might help.Terri & Dave ------------------ '65 Mustang Fastback '66 Mustang Coupe '02 Explorer XLT Common sense isn't common anymore.

Scoop, I had nothing to do with it. Check the signature. If it's "Terri and Dave" my wife did it. If it's "Dave and Terri" I did it. Dave & Terri ------------------ '65 Mustang Fastback '66 Mustang Coupe '02 Explorer XLT Common sense isn't common anymore.

There are three pages of test tubes shown at the link below. You should find something you can use. The 75mm tubes are around 3" long. The 100mm units are 4", the 150mm are around 5-7/8", and the 200mm BIG test tubes are around 7-7/8". 25.4mm = 1" The big 25mm diameter 200mm units are BIG test tubes.Direct link to test tubes. This place generally has good prices, and doesn't rip you off as bad as some of the others out there. http://www.cynmar.com/index.php?cPath=187_235 Good Luck! ------------------ Mike Burch 66 mustang real street 302 4-speed 289 heads 10.63 @ 129.3 http://www.geocities.com/carbedstangs/cmml_mburch.html http://www.fortunecity.com/silverstone/healey/367 http://www.mustangworks.com/cgi-bin/moi-display.cgi?220

'disposable' generally refers to a test tube made from cheap glass. They can break if heated strongly directly over a bunsen burner, etc. Culture tubes are basically the same thing without the beaded rim. Pyrex and Kimex are the good stuff, and are heat treated. They have high melting points and are more resistant to heat stress. Mike, Thanks! Don't know how we missed them! We arent too concerned about heat-treated tubes as these will never see the inside of a lab. They will primarily used for presentations/promotions of what we will be putting in them. Once again, the members of this site come thru !
