Some idiot hit my 1996 Cobra today. I'm hoping the insurance company doesn't total it! I'd have to buy it back if they do...a 32 valve 4.6 would definitely be restomod material! He hit me on the drivers side starting at the parking light and it caught my front wheel and it's pointing straight out to the side. Cracked my windshield on both sides near the cowl and the fender/door gap on the passenger side isn't right. It doesn't appear to have wrinkled any sheetmetal in the engine compartment, but with that engine in there it's hard to see much! Keep your fingers crossed for me and hope they fix it or I'm going to have to change my Username on a bunch of Ford sites!

I'm OK right now...the morning might tell a different story. I had a disc removed in my neck on the 21st of October and a bone spacer was put in and it was all screwed together with a titanium plate and screws. The bone hasn't fully fused together yet and I hope it didn't screw up the healing that has happened so far. I don't want to go through that pain again. I'm just starting to feel normal!

You need to give Sam a shout since he lives on that side of the water. Norfolk isn't much help. Close, but no cigar.

On any Newer Ford or SVT I would ONLY use a Ford Dealer Body Shop.

We have 7 to 10 SVT Dealers in the area and all are pretty good, with the exception of one located in upper Newport News.A friend with a 94 Cobra had a problem with that body shop and the dealership.

But the big question is WHO was the fellow that hit you insured by??

If its Progressive your in for a battle royal. My 90 Aerostare was totaled by one of their policy holders in 96 and it took 3 months to get a fair price for my Van much less all the hassle for medical cost.

I have never used them,They are an SVT Dealer.Go by and look over the shop, talk to the Shop Manger and see what impression he makes on you.

Our 95 was hit,not bad but with the Laser red being a 3 coat application I opted to have the entire Car re-paint at my cost.
I used Bowditch Ford,I been dealing with them for many years, but they are not an SVT Dealer, unless they have ante-up the fee Ford asks in the last year.

My suggestion is to go to each then pick one based on your feelings of each shop and how they are run.

Dave, even worse than being hit by a bus is the fact that it was packed in a space and i was on the bus, the driver took the turn too soon and "didnt see the car"

Double dang. That is one poor bus driver. Even I can drive a bus. Had to for hurricane evacuations. I also know that you have to take corners much wider than in a normal car/truck. Not good my friend. Not good.
Hopefully, you will be able to get the stang fixed and back on the road.

Real Nice!

Summer before last some idiot woman in a POS old Taurus rear ended me while I was on my way to the Woodward Dream Cruise. Saturday morning, 7AM, perfect conditions, nobody on the street. I was stopped at a red light and she rear ends me. She "didn't see me"!!! How's it possible NOT so see a barge Galaxie when it's right in front of you????

Note the quarter panel buckled behind the drivers door....

It must be the time of the season..

I ALMOST took out a new Pickup with my Pickup the other day.. It was mid day and all our roads are snow packed.. I was approaching an intersection with a STOP sign.. I applied my brakes and my truck didn't even attempt to slow down,, it was going to skid right through the intersection.. The other driver in his brand new truck was about to drive through the intersection,, I was waving trying to alert him to move!! He saw me waving and just before I hit him broadside,, he turned away from me avoiding a major fender bender.. YES..

Damn, that sucks! I just got my pony back from the Body Shop after it was attacked by a deer. I went to our local Ford dealer here to have the work done. They did a perfect color match, and that was on Laser Red (one of the hardest colors to match). I wanted to make sure I got Ford parts on it. I hope they can fix the car, I'm just glad to hear you are ok!

i dont have any pics of my car but to give you an idea the back bumper was torqued so much i couldnt open the gas cap more than a 1/2 inch and the taillights on the passenger side were like 45* from where they were and the quarter was buckled all the way down with a half dollar sized piece of paint missing right by the door handle, lastly the rear quater extention was flat and ground all the way to bare metal, not a spec of paint....and as for the bus, a 15' green scratch.

I checked on my Cobra last week. It was sitting on the frame machine with the fender and wheel off! They told me it had floor pan damage...which I knew about and told the insurance adjuster and the body shop manager about. It was going to exceed the original estimate and they had to get a supplemental approved. I'm going to check on it again this afternoon. Saturday will be four weeks since it happened. Two weeks ago an idiot hit my daughter's T-Bird at the exact same location! U-Wrench-It came in handy on that one!

I checked on my Cobra again today. It still hasn't had anything done! The guy that was working on it is spending 90 days in the slammer! Due to the length of time of time it's been in the shop they're going to work with me on the price of a complete paint job. Since it's three stage paint (Laser Red) they're worried that the newly painted parts won't match...so she should be looking awesome in a few weeks with a complete paint job!
