Take a whole wheel of brie cheese (2 pound wheel), brush one side with melted butter, lay it on top of a 2 foot square piece of pastry dough butter side down. Brush the exposed side of cheese with butter then evenly spread 3/4`s of a cup of brown sugar on top, then add 1/2 cup of raw slivered almonds. Now fold the dough over the top of the wheel and make sure that you close off all seams so there will be no leakage. Now flip it onto a baking dish with the sugar and almond side down, brush the top of the pastry dough with melted butter and add another 1/2 cup of raw slivered almonds on top of it. Place into a 350 degree pre-heated oven and cook for 20 - 35 minutes or until nice and golden brown (depends on how hot your oven cooks). When done cut into snack size portion and top with (optional) freshly chopped mint or very, very thinly sliced prosciutto (my favorite). Don,t worry about the calories with this dish because if you do, you won,t eat it and it is a treat you don,t want to miss, you will only have it once a year so go for it EDIT...Sorry forgot about those of you who are allergic to nuts
For those of you who are allergic to almonds, replace with finely chopped blackened (on you BBQ) asparagus.
Enjoy JOHN
