Just found out today he will be having triple bypass surgery this Friday morning. He went for a routine stress test a week or so ago and they decided to look around today. They said that if they found anything they would more than likely be able to angioplasty it or put in a stint. Thank goodness for preventative checkups because he has 3 arteries 95% blocked and calcium deposits on a valve so they are going to replace that. Talk about floored. All we could do was sit there with our mouths hanging open.

Funny thing is that he had absolutely no problems. No chest pains, no shortness of breath, no weird fatigue, no high cholesterol, no weight problem, no nothing. He'll be 64 in April.

Dave, it is amazing how these Drs. can find things without a symptom presenting itself...

Go to Dr. with an ache or pain and with tests they find something entirely different from what you suspected...and as with your Dad, no symptoms at all...

Just thank the Lord that they found what they needed in order to help him...(My neighbor's mom in having a triple by-pass at 8 am tomorrow...)

Wishes to your Dad for a speedy recovery are on their way...

Well, as it turns out he needed 5 bypasses along with the valve replacement. We got to see him briefly after the sugery then they had to take him back in to fix a leak in one of the grafts. Now all is well. Cant think of anything I'd rather have for Christmas. Thanks again for the well wishes.

Damn Dave, sounds like the only thing they didn't replace was the gear ratio I hope his recovery is speedy and trouble free

That's about it. No damage or disease in the heart muscle and the Dr. said he shouldn't have to worry about anything for 35 to 40 years. That should get him to 98 years old or so. Everything is on track now. They got him out of bed and let him walk a few steps and sit up in a recliner for an hour or so early this morning. He should be home by Tuesday and getting around on his own by Christmas day.

Hey Steve - That's exactly what we said...

Thanks for all the well wishes folks. He came home today. Amazing. Dr said he was fine and would get more rest at home than in the Hospital.
