Great info! thanks for posting that. That gives me an Idea. let the guy send it and when he hounds you about sending his money, just tell him that the bank is still investigating the one he sent you and you don't know why. I'll bet you never hear from him again.------------------ http://webpages.charter.net/adragon8u/mystang [This message has been edited by adragon8u (edited 11-20-2003).]

OH MY GOD!!!!! A friend of mine in Norway just got an inquiry that in many ways was identical, for an Oldsmobile Starfire convertible. Someone has offered $48,000 !!!!! and says his friend will send a check for $60,000 and trust my friend to refund the balance of $12,000!!!!! This guy also says the car "looks very great"! It's clearly a scam, but how does it work? Maybe they expect to take delivery before the check clears?

I read about this on a motorcycle site i frequent and they were saying this guy sends you a "phony" cashiers check and you cash it then release your car and the extra money to a friend of his. Then when the bank figures out it is a fake check you are stuck trying to pay it back while some j.o. got your car and a few thousand dollars. If my memory serves me right thats how it went.

hey i got the check!! LOL the check is a cahiers check from a bank in nd. of course it is a fake. the lady at the bank said he had tried to buy everything from land to a parrot!! he is in nigeria and the united states relations with them is not good at this time. he sent it fed-x so the usps is out. he called me the day i got the check and wanted to know if i had wired the 5k yet!! he wanted me to go do it right then. his accent sounds like he might run a motel or convience store down the road!! LOL i am gonna mess with him for a while. i e-mailed him and told him that my son backed into the car and i had it in the shop. told him i would pay for repairs because it was the right thing to do!! LOL LOL if anyone wants to mess with him, his e-mail is [email protected] hehehe------------------ mike r racing is real everything else is just a game. 81 capri-7.51 @89mph 1/8 1.54 60 ft. http://www.angelfire.com/ny5/billswebsite/pg06.html [This message has been edited by capri man (edited 12-03-2003).]

I can't believe the banks fall for it!
I even heard one on the radio. Same type of scam, except it was not a cashiers check, it was a money wire and involved a loan for a business... the wire was DIRECTLY TO THE BANK! the bank confirmed the wire twice as being real. Over the next week or so the recipient spent some of the money on capital for his busniess, and part of the payback deal was to send 5 or 10 grand back for a "good faith payment" which he did. <---red flag for me. Once the wire was confirmed a fraud, the bank ate the loss (as they should) and the man gave back the equipment he had purchased. These banks need to be more aware in my opinion.

That would just get you in trouble. A lady here locally sent some talcum in an envelope as a joke to a coworker, some spilled at the post office, everyone freaked out, and now she's looking at several years in prison. Interesting....http://www.livejournal.com/users/dbrus/307406.html I did a name search on Google and came up with a couple of hits. The link above mentions a ISE ROBERT as the person to pay to get your international lottery "winnings". Sounds more like a scam to me. I'd get the FBI involved. They should have a course of action to follow to catch this guy. (Edit) Here is another link about the check: http://www.fdic.gov/news/news/SpecialAlert/2003/SA0303.html

This is a very serious matter and the proper authorities should be contacted immediately. People like this skate through life because they are scum bags and bullies, but they do have the ability to scare people who are not as strong as you are, if nothing else inform the F.B.I just so some other person who would get scared by this does not have to go through it. Mike, for better or worse, the outfit I work for in California receives death threats all the time, and also works closely with the FBI on them. However, that is because the FBI, after years of dragging its heels, set up an office specifically to deal with animal rights extremists. Before that, all the death threats, we felt, were being tossed in the "round file". If you do decide to approach them and don't get any sense that they're interested, and if you want to push, let me know and I can advise you on how to get the FBI's attention. Alternatively, just roll with the threats and hope they're not real

Mike. I would print out 2 copies of his Email and put one in an envelope sealed and in a safe. I would then take the other one to the FBI or likewise authority and give it to them. They may already know this guy and this email may be just what they need to pursue him further. I might even go so far as to post his email on some of the other sites that already have posts about him. This guy needs to be stopped in his tracks.
