I always enjoy trying to answer trivia questions like this and I hope you guys will too.
You younger guys may not know this, but at least some of you older guys should be able to answer at least 1 of these questions.
Who is this actor? What popular (and lame by today's standards) '68-'73 prime time comedy show is his character from? And lastly what was the phrase he was famous for?

Verrry Interestin! That's Arte Johnson from Rowin and Martins Laugh in. which also gave Goldie Hawn her big break among others. I loved that show. say goodnight Dick.

Good one Sam! Can anybody else out there add their bits of knowledge about the same show?
Falcon64: bring on some more! being born in the 50's, I grew up on T.V. and enjoy the nostalgia of old T.V. quizzes.
I'm sure all remember Lassie(I actually got to meet June Lockhart a couple years back).
And some may remember Rin Tin Tin,
But who can name the show about a stray German shephard that roamed from town to town helping people?

Clint Howard is Ron's brother.

The sappy spinoff was Mayberry RFD, also related to Petticoat Junction and Green Acres, I think. Then there was Gomer Pyle USMC...

I would say true on 1954. the earlier attemps at color t.v. didn't work well because a color t.v. wouldn't recieve B&W shows. they later had to send the color signal over the seperate fm carrier so that a color t.v. could recieve B&W images also.
as for the second ? i haven't a clue.
Going back to my earlier post.

I`m kinda suprised that some of you Americans knew about the "Littlest Hobo", as I always though it was a Canadian show.
Do any of you remember a TV show starring Christopher George called "The Immortal". It was about a race driver with magical blood that prevented aging, & also healed injuries almost instantly. There was a old rich guy that was always trying to capture him, to harvest his blood. One of my favorite shows when I was in my early teens, but hardly anybody I know remembers the show.

Jack? I only say that because of a joke that Danny Thomas used to say about naming kids. Tom became Thomas, he didn't want anything like that happening with Jack.

Man...you guys must be older than the hills of Mayberry...
Hell, I'm 39 and can barely remember the Andy Griffith Show.
I must've watched all the other stupid cop shows like Adam-12, Cannon, and Columbo.
Then there's the Brady Bunch, Happy Days, All In The Family, Good Times, and The Jeffersons.
Can't forget the Six Million Dollar Man and Wonder Woman.
I sure wasted alot of time watching the insignificant crap.
Don't ask me any questions though, I couldn't tell you the difference between Archie Bunker and Fonzy.

I must say, this has been one of the most enjoyable threads I've ever been involved in. I don't know the answers to quite a few, but it is fun.
John is right with Wanted, dead or alive. Should have expected an old mustang fan to be in the know on Steve McQueen.
Anybody ever count how many hubcaps fly off of the Charger in Bullitt?

OK, Steve McQueen did NOT play his own Grandson in the Movie spin-off of the TV show 'Wanted: Dead or Alive'. I believe his name on the TV show was 'Josh Randall'.

Rutger Haeur was the star of that movie, and Gene Simmons (of KISS fame) was the terrorist/bad guy)

'The Immortal' Starred Christopher George as the guy with the special blood, and Barry Sullivan as the old, dying millionaire looking to 'transfuse' his blood to live longer. They were both also looking for C.George's brother who was suspected of having the same type of blood. This created a very 'Fugitive' style program.

I love trivia about old shows.

Here's a few for you experts out there.

Who remembers a show about three high-tech secret agents/private investigators working for the 'Probe' agency? Each episode starred one of the three main rotating characters. The three agents were played by Hugh O'Brian, Doug McClure and Tony Franciosa.
The head of the agency was played by Burgess Merideth, assisted by Gretchen Corbett.
Whats the name?

The show about the paramedics was 'Emergency!, starring Randolph Mantooth as paramedic 'John Gage', and Kevin Tighe as paramedic 'Roy DeSoto'. They worked in LA, thier 'home base' hospital was 'Rampart', and thier truck was known as 'Squad 51'.
This show was a spin-off of 'Adam 12'. What always struck me as annoying about this show was that the music was by the same guy who did the music for the 'Batman' show, and it sounded very similar. Kinda distracting, but otherwise, I loved that show!

Bonus points: What show was 'Adam 12' a spin-off of?

'The Second Hundred Years' starreed Monte Marklham as the title character as well as his own great-grandfather who was recently found frozen-for-a-hundred-years-but-still-alive. Not too good, as I recall.

Who played the '7 Million Dollar Man'. This should stump a few.

Name the THREE actors to have played 'Rudy Wells' in the 'Six Million Dollar Man'.

This is a tough one, for sure: What is the only character OTHER than 'James T. Kirk' that William Shatner ever played on the 'Star Trek' TV show.( I'm not reffering to any of the body-switching stuff either)

Who was all set to star as 'Michael Knight' in 'Knight Rider', but lost out at the last minute to David Hasslehoff? (This guy later went on to be very famous on a couple of other shows)

Who remembers these shows?

Tenspeed and Brownshoe

Feather and Father Gang

The Highwayman

What was the name of the prestidigitator who drove around in his '76 white Corvette (license plate 'SPIRIT') solving crimes? And what was the name of the show? (here's a hint: Mark Wilson was the shows consultant)

Who starred in the 'Barbary Coast'

What does the 1/2 hour show 'Call to Danger' have in common with 'Mission:Impossible'?

Before George Clooney starred in the drama 'E.R.', he was a star of a sit-com set in a hospital. What was the name of that show?

Who lost out the role of 'Batman' to Adam West at the 'last minute'?

Was 'M.A.S.H' patterned after the Korean war or the Viet-Nam war?

Who is 'Ed Straker', and what does 'S.H.A.D.O.' stand for?

A detective show from the late 60's/ early 70's had the star driving around in a custom Mustang. In fact, it was one of the two proto-type 1970 'Composite Mustangs'( also known as the 'Quarter Horse') that had the Shelby body work on it, and a BOSS 429 engine in it. One of the two cars was donated to the show by Ford. What was the name of the show, and who starred in it?

Who was the voice of the following:

'Jonny Quest'

'Shaggy' on Scooby-Do

'Velma' on Scooby-Do

Jeannie's 'master' on the 'I Dream of Jeannie' cartoon

Why did 'Speed Racer' have a big 'G' on his shirt?

What super-powers did the 'Impossibles' posses?

Who starred in the TV series version of 'The French Connection' as 'Popeye Doyle'?

What was the name of the TV version of 'Animal House'?

Whew! that's one looong list.
The Magician with Bill Bixby
The Only episode where William Shatner played someone other than Kirk that I can even come close to would be the episode with the "parralell" ?
Mash was the Korean war
Shaggy was Casey Kasem
Whew! Good questions.
I was SURE that Steve McQueen stared in the hunter as his old characters grandson. sorry

Actually, you are kinda getting the story-lines from 2 different movies mixed up a little:

Steve McQueen DID star in a movie called the 'The Hunter', and it was a semi-biographical version of the real life of bounty hunter Ralph 'Papa' Thorsen, who got kinda famous in the late 70's.(This was McQueen's second-to-last-movie, his last being the Kevin Costner-like 'Tom Horn')
This movie had a spin-off(of sorts)on the cable channel 'USA' network a few years ago called 'The Huntress', starring Annette O'Toole as Ralph Thorsen's widow who continued the bounty-hunter business with thier teenage daughter. I have no idea if this was just a complete rip-off or if there was any sort of 'truth' involved there.

That movie had nothing to do with the movie 'Wanted: Dead or Alive'.

William Shatner did play 'James Kirk' in a 'Parallel' show, but that would still be James Kirk, right?
In the episode 'Operation:Annihilate', he also played the corpse of his dead brother Sam in a breief 1-second scene. (he had on a big fake-looking moustache)

The MASH question was a trick: Even though the show was ostensibly set during the Korean war, the producers conciously made the show to purposely more closely resemble the Viet-Nam war, since that was the big controversial topic of the day. And, did anyone ever notice that MASH lasted for 11 years, while the Korean war only lasted for 8?

OK, not too shabby...

But I can't believe no one knows about the 'Composite Mustang', and especially why 'Speed Racer' has a big 'G' stenciled on his shirt! What does the 'G' stand for?

What do Karl Kolchak and Oscar Goldman have in common?

What was the name of the show that starred Andy Griffith as the owner of a junk yard, who, with the help of his daughter's husband (Joel Higgins of 'Silver Spoons' fame)built a fully functional rocket ship out of JUNK that they would regularly fly to...the MOON!
It was about the worst, most preposterous show ever!

Who is Stanley Beemish, and why does he sound so much like 'K.I.T.T. from 'Knight Rider'?

Who played Blake Carrington in 'Dynasty' for a few episodes before John Forsythe got the role?

Who plyed 'Roz' on 'Frasier' for the first few episodes before Perry Gilpen got the role?

Almost half of the scenes with 'Marty McFly' were filmed for 'Back to the Future', and then the actor was fired and replaced with Michael J. Fox. Who was the fired actor?

Who played 'Mork and Mindy's' baby son during the last season?

How about these rip-offs of sucessful shows:

Street Hawk, The Highwayman, Turboman, Cobra, Thunder in Paradise, and Viper...all rip-offs of 'Knight Rider.'

Acupulco Heat, Miami Hustle, Adventures of Black Jack Savage, The Agency, Q.B.-5, Riptide, Silk Stalkings and Night Heat... all more or less a rip off of 'Miami Vice'.

Who is credited with inventing the '3 camera sit-com'?

What was the first movie to use a 'steady-cam'?

Wow, those are good questions. Let's see if I can get them. And I am NOT looking any of this stuff up, so don't anybody else cheat either!

T.H.E.Cat...I think it starred Robert Loggia as a P.I., or maybe a high class cat burgler or something like that. I think that was his name. 'Thomas-something-somwthing, the CAT'. My memory fades...

Operation Bluebook I believe was actually called 'UFO: From the files of operation Blue Book'. But maybe not.

The Invaders....Cool show. Starred Roy Thinnes an architect named 'something Vincent' who witnessed a UFO landing late one night in an out-of-the-way abandoned area. The 'Invaders' were here to take over the planet by infiltrating important officials with thier evil twin 'dopplegangers', but you could tell who was an alien by thier crooked little fingers, or some stupid crap like that. He was trying to expose them for who they were, while at the same time they were trying to chase him down and kill him.

Who was the TV show 'Columbo' specifically develped for?

Who was supposed to star as Dirty Harry Callahan, but when he broke his wrist during the first day of filming, the movie was quickly re-cast with Clint Eastwood? This one is bizzaro!

'One Step Beyond' I don't remember ever watching, but wasn't that an anthology show, kinda like Twilight Zone or Outer Limits?

How about some car-action shows that didn't last long?

'Dog and Cat', starring Kim Basinger and the guy from Laverne and Shirley(Lou something, I think)

'B.A.D.Cats'...cops whose only job is to apparently chase down car thiefs in a beat-up old yellow and black 69 Nova SS. Pretty lame.

'High Performance'...a retired race car driver and his daughter, along with two other 'instructor' drivers, use the race-driving school as a cover for thier high-speed secret agent business. The daughter, of course, was the best driver of them all. The show was extremely stupid, but I watched every episode because I loved the actress who played the daughter...Lisa Hartman! She quit 'Knot's Landing' to do this show, and when it was quickly cancelled, she went right back to 'Knot's.

'Chase'...about a retired race car driver(again?)who ran a secret agent service(again???), with all his sons. One drove a motorcycle, another drove a big 4x4, one a 'copter, another a 'Vette...that kind of crap. Lame-o.

'Strike Force'...big car-action rip-off af 'Starsky & Hutch'. Terrible, but I do remember it starred Richard Gere.

Boy! you know your shows cobravenom.
Thomas Hewitt Edward Cat.
Yes, one step beyond was like the twilight zone, hosted by someone who's name escapes me but I can see his face plain as day. the catch was that the stories weresupposed to be based on fact.
Operation bluebook was indeed a sort of early xfiles based on and actuall Govt. agency? at the time to investigate ufo sightings.

Yeah, that all comes from spending too much time in front of a TV as a kid ( and adult) and also being blessed(cursed) with a near-photographic memeory, which actually ruins just about all movies and TV shows for me.
For some reason, the little 'mistakes' and glitches in these shows that most never notice stick out like the proverbial 'turd in the punchbowl' to me, and it ruins the believability for me. But I still watch and enjoy.

Hey SPEEDY, good job!

Speed Racer's name in the original Japanese creation was 'Go Mifune', explaining the 'G'

Frank Sinatra as Dirty Harry would really have sucked.

'Columbo' was developed for TV as a starring vehicle for...Bing Crosby! That would have really, REALLY sucked!

Don Johnson was THIS CLOSE to playing 'Michael Knight', but David Hasslehoff won it.

Before John Forsythe was on 'Dynasty' as Blake Carrington, George Peppard had the role.

'Roz' on 'Frasier' was originally played by Lisa Kudrow of 'Friends', but it wasn't working out, and she was replaced by Peri Gilpen.

Here is a last one before I go to bed:

Who was the original captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701(the one from the original series).
Note that I am not referring to the first actor to play the captain or HIS name, but the name of the supposed VERY FIRST captain of the ship.(who has never been portrayed in any version of the show, only mentioned briefly)

Until tomorrow...

Project UFO! That is the name! ( It was bugging me)

John, I knew someone would say that 'Christopher Pike' was the first captain of the Enterprise, and he is indeed the first captain 'portrayed' as a captain of the Enterprise.
However, the question is who is the VERY FIRST captain of the ship?
So I'm gonna have to give you a Bronx cheer for that one.

The first captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise, NCC-1701 was 'Robert April', who had her for seven years. At that point, 'Pike' took command for another eleven years ( at least), and then 'Kirk' got a hold of her, ultimately serving two 5-year missions.
After that, the ship was retired, refitted, and rechristened 'NCC-1701-A' and turned over to 'Will Decker', the son of 'Commodore Matt Decker', commander of the U.S.S. Constellation, who was killed in the original-series episode 'The Doomsday Machine'. Whew...

OK, Star Trek fans. Jeffery Hunter is only one of two actors to portray 'Pike'. Name the other actor.

I beleive there were 2 spinoffs from Bewitched. Both were called Tabitha, Lisa Hartman played Tabitha in the late 70's show.

What t.v. show spawned the most spinoffs?

OH Yeah Cobravenom? what's the answer to the Mustang prototype?

'The Beverllys' spin-offs:
Petticoat Junction
Green Acres

Happy Days spin offs:

Mork & Mindy
Laverne & Shirly
Joannie loves Chachi

All in the family spin-offs:

The Jeffersons
Maude
Mike & Gloria ( renamed 'the Stivics')

I think the winner has to be...Star Trek:

Star Trek: The Next Generation
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Star Trek: Voyager
Enterprise

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The composite Mustang was given to the TV show 'Dan August', starring Burt Reynolds

'Christopher Pike' was also played by Sean Kenney in the 2-part episode 'Menagerie' on the original Star Trek.
They used the original pilot-episode footage of Christopher Pike (Jeffery Hunter), and made a 'frame' to go around it with the then-current characters ( Kirk, et al...). When this episode was filmed, Hunter had recently passed away and was (obviously) no longer availible to reprise the role.
Sean Kenney somewhat resembled Hunter, so they gave him a massively disfigured face make-up job and put him in a goofy-looking remote control wheelchair, supposedly the victim of a 'Gamma Ray' blast. ( Those go**amn gamma-rays!)

Earlier, someone mentioned the 'Green Hornet'. His secret identity is Britt Reid, publisher of a big-city newspaper.
2 questions about the 'Green Hornet':

Who is Britt Ried's Grandfather?

Who played his side-kick 'Kato' on the 60's TV show?

Kato was played by none other than the legedary Bruce Lee (my all time hero)
Who, btw, was who the tv show Kung Fu was written for befoe they screwed up and gave the part to Carradine. I think Lee would have been much better. but, hollywood in there infinite wisdom didn't think it was good to have asians playing asians.

I gotta tell you guys I've learned a lot of trivia from this thread. It's already huge, so I might as well plug in a few more questions.1. What was the name of the series that featured the 2 agents known as Illia Kuryakin and Napolen Solo (spelling might not be right) and 2. what was their real names? 3. What was the name of the detective series that starred Don Adams.4. what was the name of the organazation? 5. What was his supervisor called? 6. Who played agent 99? 7. What was the name of the robot agent? And lastly what was the name of the enemy organazation?

1) The Man from Uncle
What was the name of the spin-off, and who starred in it as 'April Dancer'?

2) 'Napolean Solo' was played by Robert Vaughn, and 'Ilya Kuryakin' was played by David McCallum. I believe thier boss was played by Leo Penn, Sean Penn's father.

3) 'Get Smart'
4) 'CONTROL'
5) 'Chief'
What kind of car did the 'Chief' drive? All REAL Mustang fans should know this one!
6) Barbara Feldon
7) Hymie
8) KAOS

Maxwell Smart's nemisis Siegfried had an evil assistant named 'Stocker'. Who played him, and what other role was he most famous for?

Name Maxwell Smarts 3 cars he drove in the opening credits.

I am revising my opinion of the show with the most spin offs. I believe the record holder is 'All in the Family':

Maude
Mike & Gloria
Archie's Place
Jeffersons
and the Jeffersons spawned '227' starring Marla Gibbs, which is another indirect spin-off of 'All in the Family'.

Which actor has had a starring role in the most American TV series?

------------------
1971 'J' code 429 Mach 1
1976 'Starsky & Hutch' Torino (460)
1973 Grande
1973 Mach
1973 Convertible

ADRAGON8U,
You are almost correct about 'Kung Fu'. The show was not written FOR Bruce Lee, the show was written and developed BY Bruce Lee as a starring vehicle for himself.
The studio agreed to buy the show only if an established, more 'American friendly' actor was cast as the lead.
Supposedly, he agreed to do so because his other business's were faltering (his Kung Fu schools), and he needed the money.

The 'Green Hornet/ Britt Ried's' grandfather is none other than 'John Ried', better known as the 'Lone Ranger'.

'The Girl from Uncle' starred Stephanie Powers as 'April Dancer'.

King Moody played 'Stocker' on Get Smart, but he is most famous for being the first, and longest-running actor to portray 'Ronald McDonald' in the TV ads.

The Chief on 'Get Smart' drove a 1969 Shelby GT-500 convertible. Blue with white stripes top and interior. The steering wheel was a giant telephone dial.

In the opening credits of 'Get Smart', Max originally drove a Sunbeam Tiger. It was later switched to a Volkswagen Karmahn Ghia.
The last season he drove an Opel GT.
(mind you, this was only on the opening credits. For some reason never explained, he always drove the Tiger in the actual episodes for the entire run of the series.)

And finally I believe the actor with the most starring roles in a TV series would have to go to.....Robert Urich.
1) Soap (The tennis instructor)
2) Tabitha (her boss, the talk show host)
3) S.W.A.T. (Officer Jim Street)
4) Vega$ (Dan Tanna, P.I.)
5) Gavillan (ex-CIA agent/mercenary)
6) Spenser: For Hire (Spenser)
7) American Dreamer (sitcom, with Carol Kane)
8) The Lazarus Man (Western)
9) The Love Boat:The Next Wave(The Captain)
10) Emeril! (Emeril's best friend)

Ten shows! That has GOT to be a record!

------------------
1971 'J' code 429 Mach 1
1976 'Starsky & Hutch' Torino (460)
1973 Grande
1973 Mach
1973 Convertible

as for the actor starring in the most t.v. shows: I'll take a shot at Michael Landon?
I know the one nemisis went on to play the ship doctor in love boat, but I was pretty sure that was seigfred

and here's one, Who declined the role of Gilligan on Gilligans Island because he thought it was to dumb, and then went on to star in a show that is used as a benchmark for failed shows?

Jerry Van Dyke turned it down, his brother is one of the best comic and character actors (my own opinion) of our time Dick Van Dyke.

Who turned down the role of Ginger for Gilligans Island? She was the one that the producers thought would make the show a huge hit, but she said no.

I agree with you John. Dick Van Dyke is an absolute wonder. But I also think his brother is under rated. The guy is really funny and has great outlook on life. He jokes that Dick always beat him in every endeavor.

Wow, I thought this thread was starting to peter out, but I guess not! I am also a big fan of the Van Dykes. I remember going to the movies and watching Mary Poppins. I really enjoyed watching him dance in that movie. LOL! My Mother The Car! A 1928 Porter, that's my Mother dear, She helps me through everything I do and I'm so glad She's here. What was the name of the actor that played the villian on that show? Hint he was half of a comedy team at one point in his carreer. What was the name of the comedy team? BTW I do vividly remember Nanny and the Proffeser and the ghost and Mrs. Muir. Besides The ghost and Mrs. Muir which other show (hint car related) was Edward Mulhare in?

A popular actor from a very poular 60's TV series was given a starring role in 'Midnight Cowboy', but he had to turn it down because the procucers of the show he was on would not give him an extra 8 days off before starting the new season of his TV show.
The star-making role was quickly re-cast with Dustin Hoffman. Who was the original, unlucky actor?( who never went on to anything else)

Name the two actors who have played 'Perry Mason' on TV.

On the final episode of 'Barnaby Jones', Barnaby(Buddy Ebsen) is hired to find a kidnapped multi-millionaire.
What was the name of the millionaire, and who played him?

What character was added to the second season of a popular TV series as thier 'version' of the popular 'Monkees' star Davy Jones?

Who played Maxwell Smart's son in the very short-lived series 'Get Smart Again'?

What was the inspiration for the 'Flintstones'?, and what was the original name of the show?

What TV show was the inspiration for the 70's Saturday-morning cartoon 'Spiffy and Fleabag'?

How many ears does Mr. Spock have? (If you think about this one real hard, you may get it.)

What actor did Gene Roddenberry want to cast as 'Kirk' before William Shatner got the role?
(This was after Jeffery Hunter had already decided he wasn't going to reprise the role of 'Pike'.
The actor in question wanted 50% ownership of the show to star in it, but Desilu and Roddenberry balked at that, so Shatner ended up getting the role)

What was the TV show version of 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' called? (It starred Ben Jones and Pete Duel)

Who starred as 'Buford Pusser' in the 'Last American Hero'? ( the TV show version of 'Walking Tall'.)

What happened to the helicopter after 'Airwolf' ceased production?

What kind of car was 'Starsky' going to drive originally in the show, as it was scripted? ( it was changed to the Torino very near the beginning of filming the pilot movie, because there were two Torino hardtops in the 'studio fleet' that could be converted easily, and much cheaper than going out and buying what was originally intended)

How much horsepower does the 'Mach 5' have?

Who is 'Twiki', and why does he always say "beegie, beegie, beegie..."?

Why didn't Don Nelson ever just throw Dr. Smith out of the airlock?

Who starred as a preacher in 'Hell Town'?

When Tony Musante quit the hit show 'Toma', it was re-tooled and given a new title and star. Name them both.(here's a hint: He was run over by a 'Rallye 350' in the opening credits every week!)

What was the animal-actor Wierd Harold's most famous 'role'?

What TV show told the stories of 'Lucas McCain, his son , and the local Sherrif 'Mika'?( the character's name may have been 'Lucas McCabe')

What was the nick-name of 'Josh Randall's' sawed-off rifle in the TV show 'Wanted: Dead or Alive'?

'The 'Genaral Lee' on the 'Dukes...' had a different name originally, but it was feard that no-one would understand the 'connection'. What was the original name of the boy's 69 Charger?

What is the shortest-lived TV series in History? ( it lasted only PART of one episode. The last 15 minutes were interupted by a news break-in)

What was Jerry Sienfeld's first starring rolew in a TV series?

Who played 'Joe Forrester', a spin-off from 'Police Story'?

In another spin-off from 'Police Story', who was the star of 'Man Undercover'?

What TV series had 'scientests' Whit Bissell and Lee Meriweather trying to recover/rescue two other scientests endlessly lost because of a government experiment gone horribly wrong?

What is Samantha's evil cousin's name on Bewitched?

Name the 2 actors who starred as 'Buffy' and 'Hildegard', and lived in the 'Susan B. Anthony' hotel? And name the show.

Name the two actors who were originally going to star in 'Cheers' as 'Sam' and 'Diane', but were released, and the characters recast after test audiences did not like the them.

Who had the role of 'Spicoli' in the movie 'Fast Times...', but had to be released because he wasn't 18 at the time? (can't work for more than 4 hours a day)

Talk-radio personality Wally George recently passed away. Who is his famous actor daughter?

That should keep everyone busy for a while!

28.Bosom Buddies Starring Tom Hanks & Peter Scolari. What was the name of the starring character in "Have Gun Will Travel"? On his business card there was illustration of something. Describe it.

I meant to say Skiles and Henderson as far as the kings of sound effects comedy. They originated the echo sketch you hear other comics doing once in a while.
Who else remebers them?

Nope, on the last question, but 2 out of three ain't bad. here's a little flash movie that reveals the answer. I think it's kinda cool. Good job on the Burns & Shriver too. Avery Shriver was the actor on My Mother the Car.

Here are the answers to the questions I asked( that were not answered already)

Burt Ward, 'Robin' from the 60's 'Batman' series had to turn down the role that eventually made a star out of Dustin Hoffman in 'Midnight Cowboy'.

'Perry Mason', as most know, was played by Raymond Burr. Most don't remember the 'New Perry Mason' show in the seventies starring Monte Markham as 'Perry'.

In the last episode of 'Barnaby Jones', the millionaire that Barnaby (Buddy Ebsen)is trying to find is...'Jed Clampett', played by none other than Buddy Ebsen!

Because of Davy Jones' popularity on the 'Monkees', the character of 'Ensign Chekov'( Walter Koenig) was added to the second season of 'Star Trek'.

Maxwell Smart's son was played by Andy Dick on the 'New Get Smart' show on Fox network in the early 90's.

The 'Flintstones' were inspired by the 'Honeymooners'. Thier original name was the 'Flagstones'.

Mr. Spock has three ears....a left ear, a right ear, and a final front ear.( 'final frontier'). Feel free to groan out loud.

Jack Lord was very close to playing the part of 'Captain Kirk' on 'Star Trek', but his demands for part-ownership of the show queered the deal for him.

Brian Dennehy played the part of 'Buford Pusser' in the TV series 'Last American Hero', a weak spin-off of the 'Walking Tall' movies.

The customized ( and oh-so-cool!)helicopter used in 'Airwolf' was not maintained properly while it was being used on the show.
When the show was cancelled, the custom bits were removed, and the helicopter was sold to a Scandanavian guided air-tour company.( it was just a passenger 'copter, after all)
On its very first flight after being delivered to the company, the avionics systems failed completely, and it crashed, killing all eight people on board.
A thorough investigation proved that the lack of maintenance on it was responsible for the failure.

'Starsky' was originally going to drive a yellow Z-28 Camaro, and one was even purchased for the filming of the pilot movie. Since the show was being pushed for a possible ( and eventual) series, Spelling-Goldberg were asked to produce ( they had the 'Midsas Touch' at producing hour long series' at the time).
All Spelling-Goldberg productions at the time had a product-placement deal with Ford, so it was decided to switch the car then to a Ford product. Plus, they had a couple of good candidates 'laying around'.

Speed Racer's MACH 5 produces 5,000 horsepower PER WHEEL(!), with an individual torque-converter at each wheel. Boy, that 'Pops Racer' is one hell of a car designer, huh?

'Twiki' was the annoying little robot that carried around 'Dr. Theopolis'( a Frisbee shaped disc with 'blinkies' on it hanging around his neck) on 'Buck Rogers in the 25th Century'.

The TV show 'Toma' was retooled as 'Baretta', starring none other than our favorite, but confused wife-killer...Robert Blake.

'Wierd Harold' was the real name of the cockatoo that played 'Fred' on 'Baretta'.

Josh Randall's rifle was called 'Mare's Leg' on 'Wanted: Deador Alive'.

The 69 Charger on the 'Dukes...'was originally going to be called 'Traveller', the same name that General Robert E. Lee gave to his personal and favorite horse.
This was supposed to illustrate the 'southern' loyalties of the Duke boys'. When it was discovered that almost no one knew who the hell 'Traveller' was, it was decided to just be as obvious as can be, and the ended up naming the car 'General Lee'.
( I always wondered why there wasn't a big showdown with a car from 'up north-ways' called the 'U.S. Grant', or something like that.)

The shortest-lived TV series in history is'Fantastic Voyage', a sci-fi show from 1976.

Lloyd Bridges played 'Joe Forrester' on the show of the same name.

David Cassidy played the cop in 'Man Undercover'.( a pre-cursor to the theme of '21 Jump Street')

Time Tunnel was the show with Whit Bissell and Lee Meriweather.

The roles of 'Sam' and 'Diane' were specifically written for Fred Dryer and Julia Duffy. Test audiences hated them, so the roles were recast with Ted Danson and Shelly Long.
Fred Dryer went on to be famous as 'Rick Hunter', on 'Hunter', and Julia Duffy went on to star as 'Stephanie' on 'Newhart'.

'Spicoli' was to be played by Nicolas Cage(Nicolas Coppala at the time, Francis Ford Coppala's nephew). Since he could not work more than 4 hours a day( being a minor), the role went to Sean Penn.

The late Wally George was Rebecca DeMornay's estranged father.

I try to ask questions with interesting answers.

Fred Gwynne and Al Lewis of 'Munsters' fame previuosly starred together on 'Car 54, where are you?'. One of the characters was named 'Gunther Toody', but that is all I remember.

Does anyone remember 'Salvage One', a terrible show from the 70's starring Andy Griffith as the owner of a junkyard that built a rocketship out of junk that he would regularly fly to the moon? ( yeah, right...). It seems that all the 'junk' that NASA was leaving on the moon was anyones for the taking, so with the help of his idiot son-in-law, they built a ship out of crap laying around thier junk-yard, and they would make trips to the moon to collect scrap metal. That's right, just 2 guys built an entire rocket that would make REPEATED flights to the moon! On gasoline even!
In case anyone does not remember this show, I promise you...I am not making this up! This preposterous show actually was on for an entire year and a half!

How about the 'Flash', back in the late 80's/early 90's? Very inspired by the success of 'Batman' with Michael Keaton, this TV show had the same 'look' to it.
I think that after the show was on the air, the producers figured out pretty quickly that having a guy who's only 'super power' is that he can run real fast doesn't present itself with very many ways to write an original show where the 'Flash' catches the bad guys with his 'super-powers'. Basically, it was nothing but a big red blur every week, and the bad guys ended up in cuffs(or ropes, nets,a box,a jail cell, etc...) looking around in confused wonderment saying "Wha...what happened? Where am I? How did I get here?".

How about 'Bakersfield P.D.'? Very funny show on Fox in the early 90's

And don't forget 'Cool Million', with James Franciscus( Or was it Tony Franciosa? I always get them confused)

'Chopper One' with Dirk Benedict and Jim McMullen?('Adam 12' in the sky, basically)

'240 Robert' with Mark Harmon and Joanna Cassidy? ( A rip-off af 'Emergency!)

'Then Came Bronson' with Michael Parks riding around the country on a motorcycle?(similar to 'Renegade').

'Make Me Laugh!', a game show starring Bobby Van as the host? VERY FUNNY!!

'Stingray' , starring Nick Mancuso as the very mysterious 'Ray', inexplicably driving around in his cool black 65 Vette helping people.

'Enos', the 'Dukes...' spin-off? ( by the way, has anybody ever noticed that the motorcycle cop who pulls Cledus Snow over in 'Smokey and the Bandit' is Sonny Shroyer, who played 'Enos'? You can't see his face because of the glasses and helmet, but the voice is a dead give-away)
( By the way-part #2. Sonny Shroyer is also the guy who played the 'Bear Bryant'-like football coach in 'Forrest Gump'.)

Does anyone remember 'Manimal'? Too stupid to even attempt a dscription beyond this: A guy who can turn into animals.

'When the Whistle Blows'?

'On The Rocks'?

'San Pedro Beach Bums'?

'He's the Chief'. This one just came to me, and I swear I am not making this up: A labratory-created super-intelligent monkey becomes the...President of the United States!
( wait a minute...didn't this happen in real life recently? I mean, without the 'super-intelligent' part?)

'The Prez'. A teenager wins the presidential vote by a landslide election from younger voters. I think it starred Robert Walker Jr. as the 'Prez'. All I remember about the show is a lot of tie-dyed shirts in the oval office, and a lot of curly, curly blonde afros. Kinda like the 'Hair Bear Bunch'

'Dusty's Trail'?..Nothing more than a carbon-copy re-tread of 'Gilligan's Island' in the old west on a wagon train starring 'Gilligan' himself...Bob Denver!

'Gemini Man' starring Ben Jones? (the invisible man shtick for about the millionth time)

'Exo-Man'?.. A quadraplegic builds an invincible suit of armor to go out and wreak vigilante-style justice on the creeps of society. The suit looked like a 1940's-era deep-sea diving suit. In other words...Stupid!

'Fish Police'? Stephen Bochko's deep-dark skeleton he hopes everyone will forget.

Let's see who can remember these memorable (maybe) sayings:

Name the shows:

'Johnny Slash' was always saying "Wow, thats like, a totally different head, man!"

" I love it when a plan comes together!"

"Don't be ridiculous!"

"I asked you not to tell me that!"

"...and you can take that to the bank!"

"Elizabeth...I'm coming to join you!"

"It's not my job."

"Hello, is this to whom I'm speaking?"

"I'm a doctor, damnit! Not a _________!"

"Bang, zoom! Right in the kisser!"

"That was a horrendous crash, Flash. Look, they scuffed my cruiser!"

"I say good day to you, sir!"(recent show, still on the air)

"Oh, uhh, I'm sorry...there's just one more thing."

"Say goodnight, Dick."
"Godnight Dick."

ok, let's see if i can get this correct.
This was the only feature length cartoon to make it as an NBC? movie of the week(remember those?) in the Mid? 70's.
had music by Harry Nillson
naration by Ringo Starr
And Sammy Davis JR. as a voice for one of the characters.
BTW, I still have the original album with the book that came with it.

Jonathan Livingston Seagull? That's the only one I can think about that may have a Nillson soundtrack.

"Isay good day to you sir" is from 'Fez of 'That 70's Show'.
