Who else has complaints about their home state's new license plates? Ours are awful. Plain jane looking with a pastel green and blue picture of a field with a farm house in the background? BARF! I renewed this year over the internet, and I knew it was a new plate year, I was dreading what it would look like on the back of the Mustang...for good reason, it SUCKS!! Thank GOD my truck plate is just colored numbers on a plain white plate, it changed colors from red to blue this year, my truck's blue, so, now I'm just bluer. But I can't help but think this ugly plate thing was a calculated attempt by our poorly managed state budget to get people to purchase vanity plates to generate more revenue... Who else here feels the same about license plates?------------------ '97 Dodge 1500 ext. cab sht. bed 5.9L, auto, 3.55 limited slip... I'm a big fan of plain-jane license plate, that only have automobile-pertinent information on them. I don't care what group you belong to...the license plate is for the *car*.Here in Maryland, they just released a new plate design that is throwing a lot of people into a tizzy...at the top it says "Choose Life" and some crayon style drawings of 2 children on the side. This obviously has the pro-choice people rather upset around here. Not since the "Sons of the Confederacy" plates that were a limited issue have folks been this upset. Other designs we have are a farm scene (new as of this year), the "Save the Bay" plates, and the plain-jane white with black lettering, with the state's crest in the middle. ------------------ Frank S.----MCA Member 40390 '03 Mustang GT coupe '99 Mustang coupe '77 Ghia--"II Good"

So, out of the great state of Indiana, do they not have an alternate plate instead of the regular ones? What I'm thinking, doesn't your 83 Mustang classify for a "historical" plate?------------------ Jim 68 Mustang Coupe...My Show Car. Winning over 60 "dust free" awards! Oh, we do have several other choices, but they all cost extra. Eventually, I will get a vanity plate, but it won't say ITLBRNMOFF. I was in the garage one night, bored, so I started thinking of 7 letter or less sayings to put on a plate...here's a few: GT4PT GTMANIA SLOPOKE GT4ME2 PHAT306...bling 306FORD TUFF306 83GTPNY 306BRED 306GT FOXPOWR FOXBRED GITUSUM...I really like this one. I never really pictured an '83 as a historical vehicle yet, it's too racy looking of a body style. Anyone have any suggestions, either from the ones I just posted or your own? As long as you're not in IN., I should be able to use one of yours. quote: Originally posted by 1_ZoNiE: So, out of the great state of Indiana, do they not have an alternate plate instead of the regular ones? Did I read it wrong or do you all get new plates every time there is a new plate? Seems kinda wasteful to me. We just get new year stickers, my '65 has had the same plates since it was bought new in '65 .------------------ Tim M&M Member #35 1965 Mustang coupe, 200 I6, Holley 2300, Clifford header, true duals w/ 26" Smithys *blown up, new engine soon* 1988 Mustang GT AOD vert, 15.810 @ 88.871 mph 100% stock w/ no traction https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/I65Stang.html

Here in AZ we have a nice plate that has a desert scene on it, Saguaro catus and all. It's not too bad, I like it better than the plain California plate my '70 had on it before. I prefer the plain style plates, except for the 9-11 plate I want for my '70 when I move back to Cali. They have a neat plate that is in memory of 9-11 that has an American flag as the background design.

Yes, and they'll continue to be wasteful until they find someone with real talent to get this state out of the 'ole cornfield mentality... quote: Originally posted by I65Stang: Did I read it wrong or do you all get new plates every time there is a new plate? Seems kinda wasteful to me.

I am from Saskatchewan Canada, & Our plates suck, They used to be ok, Just having a sheaf of wheat in between the green letters (& white background) But then being the population is half Indians the government decided that we should honour them & put something they would like so now we have the script "land of living skies" along the bottom, Sure we do have beautiful skies, (alot of northern lights) But the way its worded & that with the sheaf of wheat makes no sense to anybody who isnt from SK. I would rather if they just put Wheat province on the bottom like they did in the 70s. grr

I have a set of those on a third car I now own (they do look nice), will be replaced with boring Cal plates on Friday . Only bad thing about Cal specialty plates is you pay for having them every year, no one time fee here . ------------------ Tim M&M Member #35 1965 Mustang coupe, 200 I6, Holley 2300, Clifford header, true duals w/ 26" Smithys *blown up, new engine soon* 1988 Mustang GT AOD vert, 15.810 @ 88.871 mph 100% stock w/ no traction https://mustangsandmore.com/ubb/I65Stang.html

That would be fine if I was confident that I would win. The only problem with any of the plates is, there's always someone trying to challenge you because they think you're cocky, then, you either leave 'em in the dust, or pi$$ 'em off by not doing anything. I may want to stay somewhere on the conservative sidelines. quote: Originally posted by SteveLaRiviere: They keep putting lobsters or chickadees on ours. We used to get new plates every year, then few years... and now we have the same ones since about 1986. Some pretty tired old plates out there. But don't give our government any ideas about plates with slogans on them or we'll all be extolling the virtues of same sex marriages or saving the frickin' trees.

Re personal plates. A Cuban who is half Jewish gets a personal plate that says Juban. All the Jewish folks on the beach complained and Fl called his plate back. He protested, got the news media involved and it was fun to listen to the sh!t! He won! Car he drives? One of those horrible little cv's that were sold by Mercury several years ago. Thought they had all disappeared with Yugo and Renault Alliance!
