Got a question regarding the window stickers on new cars. Particularly, some number sequences.

At least on Fords, more specifically Mustangs, down in the lower right hand corner of the sticker is a series of numbers. Anybody have any idea what they'd mean? For instance, one that I'm looking at reads:

2K081 N RA 2X 340 001269 10 08 02

Is there "vital" information in there at all? Or just gibberish?

The only one I know is the last one is the date of prodution. I think the one might be the dealer code and the others are routes for tains and truck to transport the cars. I don't think any of them are price codes. The only place they have prices other than list are on the invoice. RAY

Well, I wasn't totally looking to see if the real price is in that series...I guess the invoice is only available to the dealer then, huh?

I was curious about the last 3 numbers that looked like a date, which you've confirmed it is. I wasn't sure if that was a production date of the vehicle, or a shipping date of the vehicle.

That particular car, in case you're wondering, has bounced from one dealer to another. It was originally shipped to Falls Church, VA and it's now up outside of Baltimore. Brother thinks there's scratches on the hood (I haven't seen it).

Oh, and it's a 2003 Sonic Blue GT.

Here's a couple shots of the one mom and dad looked at for me yesterday...

Driver's side:

Passenger side:

The little line/mark at the ~4:00 position by the fuel door concerns me. Kinda looks like one heck of a scratch, but I'm hoping it'd just be splash-up from the wheel.

But, it's not the only one in the area...I hope. Sonic Blue is rather difficult to find on a GT coupe!! Heck, in general really...

Frank,
if you want to broaden your selection I'll be happy to look around the Peninsula and Carole or Terri maybe willing to look on the SouthSide (Norfolk/Va BEach).

You mean you're not going to wait for the '05s!??!?!

Heck, even if you liked these better, you know you could save a couplea grand by waiting for the redesign to come out. They'll be discounting the heck out of them by then!!

Then in '06 we'll have the Cobra!!

Trucks not paid off til '07.
