Last week they had a TV ad offering free filled propane tank with gas grills over 120. I selected a pedestal one for 135 with a little tank. I said I wanted reg size with the fill up. Guys says this one comes with the little tank and YOU will have to take it to a filling station. Ask for mgr, 'he's busy but said no'. Knew it was bs, politely told him that and said I would be back.Tues, went back. DID get a mgr, a very pleasant young girl with a big smile and............... Anyway, told her the story. Got the grill, got the tank, SHE went and got a cart to haul it out and another girl went and got the tank. Needless to say, I got on line and found out where to send a letter about her. To rant is one thing, but to get above and beyond treatment, to make things right, this should be noted also. I wrote her a no nonsense letter of appreciation via the proper channel so that THEY know about her! Home Depot does have a lot of good help and if they're good, they need a letter like that to make their "sheet" look good! Point is, Home Depot ran an ad that had a flaw in it and the clerk wouldn't handle it mainly because he didn't know what to do. The Depot also send me an email apologizing to the error in the ad. No one even considered the Pedestal Grill in the mix.

Funny thing is, I bought a new grill from HOME DEPOT last year and had the same experience. They ran the same ad last year, too! I had no problem whatsoever getting the bigger filled tank- they just gave it to me!

I had an experience where I priced three lock sets for three different doors at Home Depot and Lowe's home centers. The price was about the same [over $200.00] but Lowe's did not charge me to fix the lock sets where one key fit all three lock sets. Home Depot wanted to charge me twenty dollars to do that. I did talk to the manager of Home Depot and his reaction was, that is our policy, so needless to say have done all my business at Lowe's when I can.
