Ok, I'm getting my Silverline ready to sell (I'll explain why in another post when I have some time ) but found I have a bad ignition coil (Mercruiser 888 which is a Ford 302 ) which is not surprising since the date code is D5 . My question is can I use an automotive ignition coil or does it have to be a marine ignition coil? I need to get the coil tomorrow so I can sell it this weekend hopefully .

You should use a marine coil , if there is a problem , and , you or the person who buy`s your boat has to make an insurance claim , it could be refused ( void ) because of the coil. I have seen it happen , I fish for a living and have had many boats. Just my .02

Thanks!

I was ribbing Tim because he told Ken and me {in french, even! } that he would take pics of all the babes his boat attracts and share them with us.

Must not work too well, since he's selling the boat now...

Turns out the condensor went bad, not the coil . But then I had a hub break on me so I am replacing that and all the bearings right now.

Steve, I can still get some on my friends boats and try to get a hold of the ones from last year . I dont need them anymore though .

Dave, trust me, there is no competition for Andrea! Did I mention she is a cheerleader (no, not blonde) and a dancer (ballet not stripping but... )?
