I can check my paystubs on the web. No biggy, I find out 1-2 days before I get paid what I get. But today I checked and I have something called Retroactive Pay. WTF is that? I am going to ask if I see a manager tomorrow. And driving my truck to work is actually joyful.

Did you by chance get a salary/rate increase in the last week or so..see below ...a retroactive payment if the effective date of a salary increase precedes the beginning of the current pay period.sam

I work for a county here in NJ and get this every year sometime in march. Once the 3% cost of living increase gets approved they give you the difference from the back pay from the start of the year. It?s a way they catch you up so you get the money you are entitled to.

Every year the lazy slobs in Raleigh go past the Fiscal calender (at about 1.5 billion a day for them to be in session and this state is BROKE!). This year, the budget was not approved until October (could only give us a 3% increase, 'cause the State is so BROKE but held the longest session ever at a cost to tax payers of 1.5 billion dollars a day) so November's pay had the "retroactive" COLA included. Looked like a decent sized raise until the following month...... Then the true story was told.......

Come to find out that my COLA was to take place last November and it never happened. So they are making up for it

I've been with my company since October 00 with no raise so far I was told when I started working there that they gave "good raises" every year. It turns out there idea of a good raise is 4%, and every year is optimistic bc everytime money gets tight (like now), they put all raises on hold indefinately. Nobody with the company has gotten a raise since before July. The end isn't in sight yet either unfortunately. But I can't complain too much - my boss treats me well, and there's a lot to be said for that.

Well it took 4 months for this to happen the 1st time and the "Major" raise was..30cents..yes 30cents and I got the BIG ONE....and it's now 3 years past and not even a peep out this self serving sob. sam
