I just took on a project that someone else started. 1987 Thunderbird SC Turbo. Was told the head is bad. A used one was installed, just needs to be torqued down and everything put back together. Does the turbo have specific heads? Is there a way to tell? Thanks in advance for your help ------------------ '93 Ruby Coupe ZF6 - Muffler eliminators, Blink Blink kit, TB Bypass w/ valve, Polished ZR1 Wheels * PA Plate: OBSSSN '94 ZR1 Black on Black - Borlas and K&N Filter * PA Plate: OBSSSD 40th Anniversary Registry Members * NCM Family Membership #8116 SAVE THE WAVE! The sources I have read on this subject all say there is not a "turbo" head for the 2.3. There are several port designs among the different years but there is no significant flow difference. If you want to spend a lot of money there is an aluminum aftermarket head that flows significantly better. There is a separate head listed for the turbo in the MPC. It gives no specifics there, but let me do a little research on it. I would think it would have larger chambers for decreased CR at the least.UPDATE; -TURBO TBIRD- The MPC also lists different valves, so there is a difference. They were used on BIRDS, COUGARS and MERKURS. [This message has been edited by KULTULZ (edited 06-29-2004).]
